600 claims out of 900 raised in the European Court of Human Rights against Armenia were lodged from Azerbaijani IDPs and all these claims are in the Court’s execution now.
The first claim sent by the people who became IDP as a result of Armenian aggression and ethnic cleaning policy against Azerbaijan was heard and Armenian Government was sent a notification in this regard.
Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan in the European Court, Chingiz Asgarov stated that other claims lodged by IDPs would be heard as well. Claims are connected with the violation of rights specified in the European Convention. The aim is to prove that Armenia is responsible for the violation of Azerbaijani citizen’s rights and get an indemnity. “A court verdict cannot be ignored, it must be undoubtedly executed. The Council of Europe’s Cabinet of Ministers supervises execution of the European Court’s verdict and restoration of the violated rights must be ensured”, Chingiz Asgarov stated. Of course, it won’t be possible now. But after the problem’s solution, the CoE Cabinet of Ministers will demand from the Armenian government to take corresponding measures to restore other IDPs’ violated rights as well.
