Azerbaijan rejects Armenian accusations of violation of international humanitarian law.
“Armenia, which has occupied Azerbaijani territories, attempts to lay the responsibility on Azerbaijan for its own illegal actions contradicting the international law by making statements and bringing accusations of violation of international humanitarian law by Azerbaijan”, spokesman to the AR Foreign Ministry, Khazar Ibrahim stated to Trend News on 25 July.

Head of a working group of the Armenian State Committee on work with captives, hostages and missing people, Armen Kaprielian stated that Azerbaijan violates international humanitarian law not releasing four Armenians captured in April, current year, and Armenia is going to draw the attention of the international community to this issue.
Four Armenian militaries were detained in April, 2008 in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.
The AR Ministry of Defense stated the detained persons are the soldiers of Special Task Forces planing to commit diversions in Azerbaijan.

The conflict between the two countries of South Caucasia started in 1988 over territorial claims raised by Armenia against Azerbaijan. 20 percent of the Azerbaijan territory – Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts are under Armenian occupation. In 1994, the parties signed the ceasefire agreement and since then, the co-chairs to the OSCE Minsk Group – Russia, France, and the USA are holding unsuccessful peaceful negotiations.
