Azerbaijani Defense Ministry and General Prosecutor’s Office carry out investigations concerning destruction of cemetery in Gazakh region

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry and General Prosecutor’s Office are carrying out investigations concerning the cemetery in Gizilhajili village of Gazakh region, spokesman for Defense Ministry, Lieutenant-Colonel Eldar Sabiroglu told APA.

“The cemetery is far from the line of contact. The destruction of the graves in this way indeed makes us think. Defense Ministry and General Prosecutor’s Office are carrying out investigation, information will be given about the results,” he said.

Reports spread that the cemetery in the occupied Gizilhajili village of Gazakh region was destroyed by Armenians on the night of January 7-8. Over 30 tombstones were broken. Deputy Chief of Gazakh Region Police Office Adalat Sadigov told APA though the village is under occupation, the cemetery has not been occupied.
“The village cemetery is under our control. The residents of the village bury their relatives there,” he said.
