CIS experts to discuss draft program of cooperation on struggle against illegal migration
Meeting of the CIS member-states’ expert group to complete and coordinate draft cooperation program on struggle against illegal migration in 2009-2011 was held on May 28 – 29 in Minsk, press service of the CIS Executive Committee stated. The program prepared according to the April 3, 2008 agreement of the leaders of the CIS migration bodies’ council is the second document produced within the alliance framework. The validity period of the previous program finishes this year. The program’s aim is to improve cooperation in the struggle against illegal migration in the CIS countries. Complex measures, stipulated in the document, are based on the analysis of the situation with migration, forecast of its development inclination, results of the scientific researches and experience in struggle against illegal migration, as well as joint activity of corresponding bodies of the CIS member-states.
The program will assist the creation and implementation of coordinated policy, development of the international legal basis of cooperation in struggle against illegal migration, improvement of national legislation acts in this sphere, strengthening of frontier and migration control at the state borders of the CIS states.
Besides, joint activity in interdepartmental preventive measures, holding operative-investigative measures and special operations, training of specialists and mutual activity on raising the level of their professional skills is intended.
