“Such an initiative is great disrespect to Turkish people. Apologies to Armenians for the 1915 events mean to invite Turkey to recognize this slander. Such campaigns aim to cancel the aggressive policy of Armenians”, Onur Oyman, deputy chairman to the Turkey’s Republican People’s Party stated reacting to the campaign started by a group of persons in Turkey to tender an apology to Armenians, Turkish APA bureau reports.
O.Oyman, stating that Armenia has been keeping under occupation 20% of Azerbaijani territories for more than 15 years, underlined in addition that Armenians had committed the tragedy of century – Khojaly genocide against Azerbaijanis in 1992. “Those who proposed to apologize to Armenians for the events that took place in 1915, having nothing in common with genocide, don’t see that Armenians keep under occupation 20% Azerbaijani lands and committed genocide in Khojaly?”
MP from Republican People’s Party stated if one percent of pressure put on Turkey to open borders with Armenia was put on Armenia, Azerbaijani territories would be liberated. “The World doesn’t put pressure on Armenia. Despite numerous statements made by the international organizations, Armenians haven’t pulled off even from one Azerbaijani village they occupied. Will those who called on our community to apologize to Armenians demand that Armenians should pull off from the Azerbaijani territories they occupied? Will they call on Armenians to apologize to Azerbaijan for the Khojaly genocide? This is very interesting issue for me”.
