Poland supports solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, Polish deputy foreign minister, Andrey Kremer, who is on visit in Baku, said February 4 at the meeting with vice-speaker of the Milli Majlis, Valeh Alasgarov.
The vice-speaker informed the guest about the structure, activity and international relations of the Azerbaijani parliament, as well as the economic reforms carried out in our country, the oil strategy, the current situation with the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and other issues, the parliament press service informed.
Reference of Trend News: The conflict between the two countries of South Caucasia started in 1988 over territorial claims raised by Armenia against Azerbaijan. 20 percent of the Azerbaijan territory – Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts are under the occupation of Armenian Armed Forces. In 1994, the parties signed the ceasefire agreement and hold fruitless peace negotiations through the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group – Russia, France, and the USA till today.
V.Alasgarov emphasized the need to intensify the cooperation between the two countries to enhance the intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary relations. There is a great potential for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Poland and the parliaments can make significant contribution to this affair, said the vice-speaker.
Azerbaijan’s role in the energy security of Europe, as well as the global-scale oil and gas projects initiated by Azerbaijan and future prospects of the bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting.
