Political scientist Alexander Skakov: “Strange optimism of the OSCE Minsk Group members doesn’t have any grounds”
“Negotiations for the solution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group framework don’t produce any results”, Alexander Skakov, head of the CIS department of Institute for Strategic Studies said making a speech during the Yerevan-Moscow-Baku TV-bridge.
He stated the format of negotiations does not change their plane. “The crux of the problem is that the negotiations do not differ wherever they take place – be it the framework of the CIS, UNO, OSCE; hereby, the place where imitation of negotiations take place is not important. So, there is no need to deceive yourselves that the negotiations within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group would have any results. These talks give nothing to the parties. Strange optimism of the OSCE Minsk Group members doesn’t have any grounds; they want to give the impression that their efforts are not vain”. Alexander Skakov stated to rely on time in the conflict solution is irrelevant as well. “It is impossible to hope that after 20 years, Azerbaijan will turn into a powerful state and the problem will be solved by itself. Because time works not only to Azerbaijan’s good, but to Armenia’s and Nagorno-Karabakh’s too”. Establishment of Baku-Yerevan and Baku-Khankendy platforms are important for negotiations, Alexander Skakov stated.
