Some of the immigrants in Azerbaijan do not have any status

Immigrants from Afghanistan and Chechnya are the majority
Rapporteur of the Refugee, Migration and Population Committee of the Council of Europe, John Greenway discussed the problems that immigrants in Azerbaijan get faced during his visit to Azerbaijan. The officials of the Council of Europe met with the chief of the State Migration Service and determined the steps that could be taken to settle problems on this direction.

According to information given by website, lent.az, John Greenway told it to journalists. According to him, most migrants especially the ones who came from Afghanistan and Chechnya don’t have legal status, as refugees.

“We have discussed this issue with the chief of the State Migration Service. I think, our next visit to Azerbaijan will be related to the discussions of migration problems again. We are thinking to hold special hearings on immigration problems in Azerbaijan. For this, first, we need to make researches on the issue, said John Greenway”.
