The working group of the Azerbaijan State Commission on Captives, Missing People and Hostages cleared up the fate of 100 Azerbaijanis registered as missing persons as a result of search-investigative measures and removed their names from the list of the missing, the State Commission reports.
26 of those persons are alive, some of them live abroad, 33 were killed in the battles, their bodies were recognized and buried, and 41 more were registered again. According to the information dated June 1, 2008, there are 4264 captives, missing people and hostages. 3439 of them are servicemen and 817 are civilians (8 were not identified yet). 47 of the missing people were children when taken hostages (16 underage girls), 262 women, and 359 old people (156 women). 783 persons out of 4264 are reported to be captured or taken hostages according to the witnesses. 1396 persons were released from the captivity or hostage. 343 of them are women, 1053 men (169 children, 65 underage girls), 289 old people, (112 old women). During analysis of the materials received by the State Commission, it was defined that 550 people were killed or died over different reasons in the captivity. 104 of them were women and 446 men. The names of 137 people have been identified, but 74 still remain unknown.
