Voice of Karabakh # 13

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Parviz MUSHARRAF, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan:

“Pakistan always supported Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh problem. We believe that this conflict will find its peaceful solution on the basis of the UN resolutions. The occupation of territories is inadmissible. Azerbaijan’s sovereignty should be restored in all its territory. Mister President, in this respect I would like to assure You that in Nagorno-Karabakh issue Pakistan will always be on the side of Azerbaijan within any organization…
We are convinced that the efforts made within the OSCE Minsk Group will be effective; armed forces will be withdrawn from the Azerbaijani territories, and You will achieve great success in the progress of Your country.”
From the speech with the President of Azerbaijan in Islamabad, 12 April 2005

Vladimir VORONIN, President of Moldova:

“We have agreed on the cooperation at international level, including at the UN, and will raise for the discussion at the UN General Assembly the issues that are difficult for both countries – the issues related to the existing conflicts. We support Azerbaijan’s position in the issue of territorial integrity since that a difficult problem for us, too.”
From the speech at the press conference of presidents of Moldova and Azerbaijan in Chisinau, 21 April 2005

S.Rob SOBHANI, head of the Caspian Energy Consulting:

“The Armenian should leave the occupied Azerbaijani lands, otherwise the consequences may be much more serious, and by the way for the whole world.”
From the article with the appeal to the US President G. Bush in “Washington Times”

Dimitrij RUPEL, OSCE chairman-in-office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia:

“I will make every effort to settle this prolonged conflict and this year should be a foundation in its settlement.
I call on all sides to look for the solution of this issue through a dialog. The OSCE political lexicon does not contain nay other ways of conflict resolution except peaceful means. I call on the sides to stop cease fire violations. I would like 2005 to be the turning point in the settlement of Karabakh conflict.”
From the discussions at the meetings with the leadership of Azerbaijan in Baku, 2 April 2005

Ambroise DUPONT, senator, the chairman of the France-Azerbaijan friendship group in the Senate of France:

“The position demonstrated by the Azerbaijani side in the issue of peaceful resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict pleases us very much. We welcome and support this position. It is known that if conflicts are peacefully settled, the peace is long standing.”
From the discussion at the meeting with the speaker of Milli Majlis in Baku, 11 April 2004

Anna Maria Ishler BIGUIN, co-chairman of the European Union-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee:

“We have already familiarized with heavy vital conditions of the IDPs in tent camps. Really, they live in intolerable conditions. We should try that the conflict has been solved soon. It is necessary to provide the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and refugees should return to their native lands.”
From the talk to the chairman of Azerbaijan Parliament in Baku, 18 April 2005

The RUSSIANS about the ARMENIANS

V.L.Velichko “The Caucasus. The Russian affair and inter-tribal issues.”
(Continue. Beginning in previous issues)

I was naïve to believe it. After the first serious revealing of antisocial tricks and tribal intolerance of Tiflis city bosses, I received from that pretended liberal and strong Armenian patriot (in parasitic sense of the word) quite a characteristic letter. I bring some extracts of the letter, in which Janshiyev “opened his cards”:
“I sincerely wish it (the Georgian people) all (?!) success, but only on the basis of equality, and not on the basis of whimsical favorite of the administration that it used to be so far (?!) as “Novoie Vremia” (New Time) acknowledges. Thus, the future is for the Armenians since they never and nowhere demanded for themselves any privileges (?!) at the expense of other peoples. Your newspaper has a tendency to treat them as a harmful element. It should not be forgotten that they – workers – who have been an object of baiting for 3 years, are especially vulnerable to any injustice particularly from persons, whose impartiality they believed in. In such mood even a just measure can cause temper. What could be juster than equalization of tatars with christians in city administration? Nevertheless I understand quite well the people, who consider this measure untimely because it is reasoned not by the love to justice, but by the hatred (?!) toward the Armenians. Of course you will not suspect the late Unkovskii in antipathy toward the peoples, while he was indignant (?!) with Miliutin for his Polish peasant plots because they were reasoned by hatred (?!) toward the Polish people and not by care about it!!..”
I think there is no need for comments since even an unjust measure can cause temper of these sensitive misters, “who do not demand privileges for themselves,” but who are opposing the equalization of muslims!..
There is nothing to say, a good “ability” that implies inevitable displeasure of the neighboring population! It is clear that such “skillful” people should live in tolerant Russia: one does not have to treat it, the Mother, excessively considerately!..
It is worth noting the article of a pro-Armenian French writer mister Pierre Moran (journal Correspondant, 10 April, 1897) “prepared” by the Caucasian politicians and opening their cards as well.
According to this writer, Russia has not morally strengthened its power between the Black and Caspian seas, and by the way this is correct. As he says, the idea of uniqueness and aspiration to separatism is deeper and more active among the Armenians. They complain about indifference to their situation on the part of France, which has forgotten its principles and relinquished its traditions in a supposedly humiliating for it (?!) Franco-Russian Alliance; the Russian government in its turn not fulfilling its obligations of rescuing the Armenians abroad, supposedly oppresses the Russian Armenians by irritating measures par des procedes vexatoires. The Armenians are supposedly persecuted (?!) in Russia for their active energy, welfare, strong mental culture (!) and at last just for “being Armenians.” Mr. Moran considers that they are people with desired will, are steadfast, strong and diligent, in short people with large inner power a la seve vigoureuse. He admits that in Transcaucasia they “have occupied all places designed rather for the Russians” and that they create for themselves a new Fatherland within the Russian borders by taking hold not quite in good faith of all large enterprises so to say from below (par les dessous) as pitiless usurers, illegal merchants, “christian jewmen” whom the Russian envy for not being able to compete with them. BLOODY CHRONICLE

Crimes of the Armenian band formations against Azerbaijanis

(Continuation. Beginning in previous issues)

27 March – 3 April, 1993. Kalbajar, Azerbaijan. During the occupation of Kalbajar region by the Armenian terrorist formations, a resident of the region Amraliyeva Arzu Binnat gizi together with her one-year-old son and other relatives was taken captive. The bandits plunged the captives into a truck, and 19 captives, for whom there was no place in the lorry, were cold-bloodedly shot on the spot. On that day, the Armenian bandits killed in front of Arzu’s eyes her husband, brother, sister, sister-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle’s wife and minor nephews.
According to the testimony of eyewitnesses, during the occupation of Kalbajar region on 31 March, 1993 several families fleeing from the Armenian bandits on cars “UAZ-69,” “GAZ-52” and “KAMAZ” were shelled in the so called place of “Tunnel”: the men were shot, the survived women and children (approx. 60) were taken captives. DEPORTATION OF THE AZERBAIJANIS FROM ARMENIA

Jamil HASANLI, doctor of historical sciences, professor

A rare document proving that fact is published for the first time

(Beginning in previous issue)

Some of the facts of expressing by the Azerbaijanis their disapproval of their coming deportation and the attitude of the Armenian part of the population to this measure are given below:
Chairman of kolkhoz in Shurakand village Aliyev Humbat, having returned from the regional center to the village, entered the kolkhoz farm and declared to the kolkhoz workers: “A commission has arrived from Azerbaijan, and all the Azerbaijanis should be resettled from Armenia one of these days. The resettlement is delayed only because the secretary of Armenia’s CC of CP (b) did not agree to transfer the kolkhoz property of the farm to Azerbaijan. If he had agreed, the question of the resettlement would have already been settled.”…
In Shurakand, Zangilar, Kelanlu, Agamzalu and other villages… some kolkhoz workers were cutting down fruit trees in their plots…
A resident of Zangilar village Suleymanov Seyfulla (he returned from deportation in 1947) told to his fellow-villagers in the kolkhoz stable: “We should not live in Armenia any more. If a war starts, the Armenians will massacre all of us: it is better for us to go to Azerbaijan as soon as possible.”…
3. IN VEDI REGION
In January and February, the residents of Boyuk-Vedi village Abdullayeva Tarlan, Mammadova Urbaba and Mammadula Huda Bashkhi oghlu destroyed their houses, and Eyvazov Mikail, Akbar Mammad Ali oghlu, Aliyev Bilal, Zeynalov Useyn, Kalashev Oruj, Rza Ali and others destroyed part of fruit trees in their plots.
Among the residents there were also such people as Aliyev Humbat, Karimov Akbar, karimov Janbakhish and others, who sold their house property…
Resettlement mood is especially strong among the Azerbaijani population in this region. This is seen from the fact that the requests for permission to resettle were received from 9,915 residents by 28 April of this year, while it was planned to resettle only 500 people to the Azerbaijani SSR during 1948.
4. IN BASARGECHAR REGION
The kolkhoz workers in Chirchaklu village were not working during 3 days in February as result of spread provocations that Turkey declared war against the Soviet Union, and that in this connection the Azerbaijanis will be resettled.
In some villages of the region (Dashkand, Chirchaklu, Zod) rumors were spread that the secretary of the regional committee of CP (b) comrade MUSAYEV, chairman of the regional executive committee comrade MAMMADOV and other responsible workers-Azerbaijanis were replaced by the Armenians. In consequence of these prevocational rumors, the kolkhoz workers of Zod village started to be negligent in their work…
The majority of the kolkhoz workers in Shishgaya village definitely declared their unwillingness to resettle to the Azerbaijani SSR.
Morbid statements were fixed among the Azerbaijani population of Artashat, Karabakhlar, Oktemberian, Gafan, Megri and Sisian regions. For example:
The chairman of the council of Vartanidzor village in Megri region Hamidov Abdulla answering the question – why the irrigation channel is not built – said: “Why do we have to build it?” “To leave it for the ‘akhpars’?”
In Dargalu village of Artashat region, where 20 Azerbaijani families live, all declared the following: “We will not go anywhere; they can kill us here, on the spot.”
The chairman of Siznak village in Gafan region Taghiyev Bashir, expressing his unwillingness to go to Azerbaijan, made the following statements during a conversation with fellow-villagers: “It is better to die in a native village, than to go to a new place.”
A resident of Urut village in Sisian region, member of the RCP (b) Iskandarov Salman stated in a conversation with his friends that he as a Soviet citizen had a right to live in any place of the Soviet Union and did not have intention to leave his house, property and motherland, and according to the Stalin Constitution, no one had a right to compel him to move in a new place…
A resident of Aravius village in the above mentioned region Ganiyeva Asli said: “If I change my nationality and register myself as an Armenian, can I then stay in Armenia and not resettle to Mingachevir?”
There was idle gossip, which sometimes had nationalistic character, about the reasons of resettling the Azerbaijanis among the Armenian population, as well.
For example:
A teacher of boot technology in Industrial training center of the Ministry of Social Security of the Armenian SSR Arakelian Minas Aristakesovich said: “The question of resettling the Azerbaijanis from Armenia is beyond doubt. First of all, the Azerbaijanis living on the bank of the Araz and Akhurian rivers will be resettled. Then the resettlement of the Azerbaijanis living in Yerevan city will be started. Liberation first of all of the border-line villages from the Azerbaijanis is quite understandable because they often violate the state border and Turkey creates its spy hearths using them.”
A resident of Yerevan city Mesropian Ervand in conversation with his neighbor said: “The Azerbaijanis should be deported not only from Armenia, but also Nakhchivan ASSR and annex it to Armenia.”…
A French visitor, former dashnak khmbapet, called Sumbat living in Kirovakan city, stated in the presence of a group of Armenians: “In the past, Dashnaks considered a question of annexing Nakhchivan ASSR to Armenia, but they could not do that. And now the time has come for that, because there is not much place in Armenia.”
Similar statements by different persons were fixed in Yerevan, Leninakan and other cities, as well.

Armenia: Secrets of a “Christian” Terrorist State

The Armenian Great Deception Series – Volume 1
Samuel A. Weems

(Continuation. Beginning in previous issues)

Once after announcing the forthcoming publication of this book of mine, I became an object of attack by the Association of the Armenians of America. This lobby with millions of dollars and a special circle of interests is located in Washington DC. It has about 40 or 50 professional employees. The main purpose of this organization of the Armenian lobby with special circle of interests is directing as more American dollars as possible to Armenia. For the last 10 years, this figure made 1.5 billion dollars. In addition, the Association of the Armenians of America conducts a work aimed at opposing everything intended for Turkey or other muslim states of the Middle East.
Due to the fact that the anger campaign was aimed against me, the Association of the Armenians of America sent more than thousand of warning to my address with the purpose of attacking me personally! 23 out of these warning were threats with murder. Pay attention to one aspect and try to understand the Armenian “character”: none of them has read the book yet, but look what they write to me (I received these threats before the publication of the book).
* The book of St. John Publishing House is full of lie, lie and lie. Who gave money to Wheems for writing the book? This is a real Turkish revisionism. Are you sure in your intention to defend such a frighteningly false web site?
* “Having read the book of Mr. Samuel A. Wheems, I declare that all facts the author is talking about are completely FALSE.”
* “You fool, …, dull barbarians! How can you know what you are writing and disseminating?”
Pay attention to the following examples of threats against my life. I take these threats seriously, because for the recent years the Armenians have killed about 70 people in different countries and four people in the United States.
* “I just wanted to say that you will burn in the hell for offending the first christian nation in the world. You can be sure that soon I will come to your funerals and urinate to you your wretched corpse.”
* “I will never forget my revenge, thus will be ready for it. There are 10000000000000 people like me. You remain smiling!”
* You worth of dying as a predator. Some Armenians will kill you one day. And you will taste the Armenian hatred!!!!!”
* “I want to point out that you book is as dumb as you are, because to write such a book against Armenia – the first to accept christianity – means to offend all of us who have spread all over the Earth, and if I manage to find you, I am going to kill you.”
(Perhaps, the mysterious death of the American author, which inhibited him to write the second volume of the book and unveils the true face of the Armenians, is not haphazard – ED.)
In response to the threats received by me I would like to ask the Armenians questions. It was interesting for me to know how they think. One of my questions was whether all the Armenians agree with the threats against me. The most typical answer was as follows: “On the basis of the received by you threats you have impression that all the Armenians are terrorists. Can the whole peoples protecting your culture be terrorists?”
The prevailing Armenian opinion is that if you do not agree with the “Armenian” position, there is a possibility of threat against you from any person. Such an approach is inadmissible in the civilized world.
I asked the Armenians why their country treacherously attacked neighboring muslim Azerbaijan in 1992. The Armenian have occupied 20% of this country’s territory and forced more than a million poor people to leave in refugee camps by exiling them from their native lands. Here is the typical answer reasoning the perfidious attack of christian Armenia against muslim Azerbaijan: “Do not tell me that the battle of the Armenians with the Azeris diminishes the Armenians’ Christianity. Take a look back to history and you will see that the Holy War has been realized.”
As a matter of fact, for committing those bloody actions, which the Armenians called “Holy War,” they received military ammunition and equipment of more than 1 billion dollars from the Russians. Christian Russia and christian America support the Armenians in the same “Holy War.” This is an excellent example of what the muslim world hates the United States for. Then should one surprise why oil producing countries often raise the prices for oil sold to America?

Occupied territories of Azerbaijan

Kalbajar – gates of Azerbaijan castle

At the beginning of 1993, from 31 March to 2 April, Kalbajar region considered “the gates of Azerbaijan castle” was the next to be occupied.
This is a mountainous region (Jamishdagh Mountain with 3,724 m height and Dalidagh Mountain with 3,616 m height are situated here) with 1,936 sq km area and 58 thousand people of population that has an exclusive strategic location. One town, one urban settlement and 128 villages were located in this region with the centre of the same name.
Kalbajar is one of the most ancient parts of Azerbaijan. Khotavand temple located at the source of the Tartarchay River is one of the ancient monuments that reached us. In general, this territory is reach with architectural monuments dated back to XIII-XVIII centuries.
There are natural resources such as mercury, gold mines and so on. The picturesque nature of Kalbajar region is reach with different kinds of flora and fauna, as well as world famous salubrious mineral sources: Istisu and Turshsu. There was a very popular in the USSR sanatorium with the same name here during the Soviet period.
Before the occupation, 9 hospitals, 75 obstetric medical centers, 23 ambulance stations with sufficient medical staff, as well as 9 kindergartens and 97 secondary schools with 12 thousand pupils functioned in the region. A network of the region’s cultural institutions consisted of 42 houses of culture, 43 clubs, 116 libraries and 17 cinemas.
During the above mentioned period, the Armenian terrorist and bandit formations included into a criminal organization “Karabakh” completely occupied both the regional center, and all settlements of the region. During fierce battles for Kalbajar, 55 military men and 220 civilians were killed, hundreds of peaceful residents were wounded, 321 people were taken prisoners, 29 military men and 119 civilians missed in action.
The population of Kalbajar region consisting of not only Azerbaijanis, but also Kurds, Russians, Turks, Tatars, Ukrainians, Lezghins, Jews and other nationals turned into internally displaced persons. According to initial assessments, the material damage only to this region made 761 million dollars.
The occupation of Kalbajar region by the Armenian bandit formations was accompanied by inhumane mass crimes against the local population, which could not remain undetected by the world press. We will bring the extract of the testimony of Tatiana Chaladze, a journalist from Latvia, correspondent of radio “Free Europe”: “The occupation of Kalbajar region started from two directions: from NKAO and simultaneously from the territory of Armenia, by violating the state border of Azerbaijan. As result of these impetuous actions, the fate of the civilian population became tragic. All helicopter pads were shelled, and the helicopters with people on board that managed to break through the fire were hit by the Armenians in the air. The refugees had only one way out of the death – through Murovdagh. The pass was still closed by snow, but people went on. They did not have any other choice. That was a terrible way out: old people, women and children. Going through snow and mist, frozen women carried children; the aged pulled their things in half conscious state… Fortunately there was mist. It inhibited the Armenians to open precise fire. Then, they tried to close the pass: two Armenian tanks T-72 rushed to the road from the left. They opened fire from large caliber machine guns weapons on unarmed people. The second tank rotated its turret and opened fire on the trucks waiting for the refugees on the Azerbaijani side of the pass to further transport them on cars. One of the rounds hit the moving truck full of refugees… Later, when the snow melted, so many dead bodies of women and children were found all around. Many of them were killed not by bullets, but they were just frozen to death because they wore only what they had on when they rushed out of their houses…”
There were many victims in Kalbajar; those who survived among its residents are spread in 59 settlements of the Republic…
G. JABRAILLI
“Voice of Karabakh”

Armenians, historical falsifiers and slanderers,
always pose as victims who were always supposedly destroyed by everyone on Earth for “unknown” reasons. Today, when they have stirred up an undeclared war against Azerbaijan, which became the reason of unprecedented horrors, the Armenians ascribe everything they have done to the Azerbaijanis: they claim to be the object of Azerbaijan’s attack, their land is occupied, we massacred them, and not vice versa and so on and so forth. There are numerous facts, eyewitness testimonies, refuting the Armenian figments. And there are many non-Azerbaijanis witnessing their atrocities. Here we bring an extract of the account by one of such eyewitnesses.

Tatiana Chaladze

“COMPASSION”

… The world does not know yet all the happening events: everything started in Karabakh. And with the struggles of the Armenians for “freedom,” but with great tolerance of the Azerbaijanis, sincere perplexity, their inability to fight, who did not believe till the last moment that the war was launched… Even now, they cannot understand how “the Armenians could raise hand against us,” an example is always, in every conversation, brought that we used to have a neighbor, Ashot, we used to be friends… The Azerbaijanis are accused that their republic is on the way of building “Islamic Azerbaijan.” But can anyone think about accusing Russia for reviving christianity, triumphant celebration of its millennium anniversary in Rus’ and see in it a danger of the creation of “christian Russia”?!
… Why do they respect the Americans and do not consider it shameful and insulting to learn the language and owe loyalty to America? Because the Russians, whether it is a diplomat or ordinary immigrant, respect only power. America is the most powerful state. There is even a proverb: “If he fears, he respects.” And they detest “smaller brothers” – Chukchi men, Azerbaijanis for their inability to fight, because these nations cannot “suppress.” Russia’s state machine works grinding, destroying morally and physically muslims: in February 1992, the 366th Russian motorized regiment, deployed in Stepanakert, together with the Armenian band formations committed punishment actions in Khojaly town. A soldier from that regiment Viktoria Ivleva testifies that “she observed herself the army armed vehicles, artillery fire on the town preceding the seizure.” Viktoria Ivleva confesses that she participated as a soldier in the seizure of Khojaly in the second echelon. In the book by Yu. Pompeev, she tells that approaching Khojaly, she noticed “something resembling a cloud moving toward her. That was a crowd of half naked distracted people. A woman, walking barefooted on the snow, with three children was the last one in the crowd of the Turks. She hardly walked and often fell. It turned out that her youngest kid was only two days old.” The further fate of that woman and others one can see in a television record, where instead of the sounds of crying operator: people were shot on the slope by precise fire. In one of the photos of the soldier of the 366th Russian regiment Viktoria Ivleva, four “brave” warriors over the dead bodies of killed “Azeris.” This is how the fascists took photos in the heat of victory on the background of gallows.

10 years of humanitarian aid

The solution of numerous problems of a million of refugees and IDPs, appeared in Azerbaijan as result of the Armenian aggression, could not have been possible without the humanitarian aid of the developed countries and certain international organizations. In this respect, it is worth noting the activity of the government of the Kingdom of Norway.
The other day, it was the 10th anniversary of the activity of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Azerbaijan. On this occasion, a press conference was held by this organization in International Press Conference on 18 April.
Opening the conference, the deputy head of NRC’s Azerbaijan office Elnur Nasibov pointed out that the organization he represented was founded in 1946 and the main purpose of its activity in Azerbaijan was the organization of humanitarian aid to refugees and IDPs, as well as improvement of their protection at international level.
The head of NRC’s office in Azerbaijan Berit Olsen informed that the organization has been rendering aid to IDPs and refugees since 1995 within programs on accommodation, food and education: “Assylum and rehabilitation,” “Return to borderland areas,” “Education,” “Protection, representation and legal aid.”
For the past 10 years, NRC rendered different kind of assistance to 75 thousand IDPs and refugees. About USD 10 million were spent for these purposes. According to B. Olsen, at present, the organization is realizing several projects: “We are realizing one large project in Baku and two projects in Sumgait. We have built 18 schools and more than 60 dwelling houses in two cities so far. We are also carrying out reconstruction works in two liberated villages of Fuzuli region. We have restored 17 houses in the borderland in the territory of Gadabay region.”
NRC has done a lot in the borderland areas. For example, in 2004-2005, 17 houses and 3 secondary schools were restored in Gadabay region. 105 houses, 13 schools and 2 community centers were constructed and 192 more houses were restored for the same period in Beylagan region.
The Norwegians opened thousands of new work places for the Azerbaijani refugees. Touching the future plans, Olsen said that NRC planned to be engaged in the restoration of public buildings in the outskirts of Baku, where refugees live. They intend to spend USD 1.5 million for this project.
NRC representatives informed that in the nearest future, they plan to realize new projects in Azerbaijan: construction of a new settlement for 133 IDPs from Lachin region, a project of distributing food packages to the Chechen children, rendering dental care to the refugee children, as well as the construction of the facilities of alternative power sources.
NRC also aspires to create profit industry for the IDPs. The project of micro credit is being realized for this purpose. It should be note that NRC also renders assistance to the Chechen refugees living in Baku.
The director of international department of NRC headquarters Jens Mjaugedal during his speech in the event informed on the work done by the organization for the past 10 years in Azerbaijan. Having expressed his approval of NRC’s activity in the Republic, the director of international department stated that the organization was rendering assistance to the refugees and IDPs, as well as the people returning to the liberated territories in 20 more countries along with Azerbaijan.
The ambassador of Norway to Azerbaijan Steinar Gil speaking in the press conference stressed that NRC’s activity is supported by the government of Norway and expressed his satisfaction with the methods of using the allocated funds.

National Heroes of Azerbaijan

Nineteen-year-old hero

“Do not worry, I will certainly come back home after I clean the native land from the Armenian scum,” these were the last words of a nineteen-year-old Sakhavat to his relatives, when he went to front. Alas, for the first time in his life he could not keep his promise…
Sakhavat Maharramov was born on 3 December 1973 in a poor Azerbaijani family, which lived in Armenia at that time. And he was only 15 when he left that former Azerbaijani land under the threats of the Armenians. He witnessed those terrible sorrows suffered by the Azerbaijanis deported from their native lands. And all that engraved on his memory for ever since it is impossible to forget that…
Right after graduating from the secondary school in Lokbatan settlement, where his family had settled, Sakhavat went voluntarily to military service in one of the units of internal troops. Having mastered necessary military knowledge and skills, he submitted to his commander a written request for seconding him to the front. And on 23 June 1992, Sakhavat was in the combat zone. He demonstrated manhood, steadfastness and bravery on the first days. And he managed to revenge the enemy in a worthy manner for the sufferings of the Azerbaijanis endured during their deportation and for the killed comrades. The regiment Sakhavat served in reached Mekhratag village liberating several our settlements from the enemy forces. The Armenians did not want to give that village, which had an important strategic importance. There was a very significant task for 18 August, on which the result of the following operation depended. This task could only be accomplished by brave, vigilant and fearless warriors. Sakhavat was among those who went to accomplish that task.
The reconnaissance team was hardly making its way through a thick forest at night. All others in the base camp were looking forward to receive information from them – the task was too dangerous; our soldiers could face the enemy any minute. And then the information was received: the mission is accomplished! They were ordered to return. Few hours elapsed, but the team did not show up. Suddenly, the noise of intensive shooting was heard. By the alarm signal all the soldiers went to the point of shooting. And there everything became clear: the team, having accomplished the task, was encircled by the enemy on its way back to the position. The soldiers did not even think of giving up. In spite of unequal forces, they decided to embark on fighting against the Armenian band formations. And each of them died as a hero in the fierce battle with the enemy…
That was the last battle of Sakhavat. He, as always, fought bravely in this battle, too, bringing honour to his parents and nation, and he reached the level of martyrdom for the motherland.
By the directive of the President dated 6 November 1992 Sakhavat Alamdar oghlu Maharramov was posthumously honored the title of the National Hero of Azerbaijan for his bravery and heroism demonstrated in the battles for defending the motherland.
“Once, I had a very bad dream. As if I had a stone in my heart. Having woken up early in the morning, I went to Aghdam. Everything went dark before my eyes, as if a mountain fell on me, when I received the terrible news about the death of my son… He is buried in the Martyrs Alley. I go every day there to Sakhavat, the son of his people. We embrace ourselves, have a talk. This is my only consolation,” these are the words of Sakhavat’s father Alamdar, who lost his very young son…

Rearmament of the separatist “NKR” is in full swing, and international organizations quietly observe that

The meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of Azerbaijan and Armenia cannot be arranged for a long time. This meting is expected to open an opportunity for another meeting of the presidents of these two conflicting countries. This does not happen haphazardly.
The Armenian side every time tries to evade from the negotiations wishing to prolong this process. First the domestic political situation in Armenia becomes tensed, then the minister of foreign affairs is ill, then the president injures his leg, then something else… All that is done purposefully: the Armenians are interested in gaining time in any case.
Since the signature of the cease fire agreement, Armenia has received a large financial assistance from both the Armenian diaspora organizations and developed christian states such as the USA, Russia, France and so on. For the same period, the military arsenal of the occupant country has considerably increased mainly by illegal ways. In particular, as we have already mentioned in previous issues of our newspaper, Armenia has received a state-of-the-art military weapons, equipment and ammunition costing billions of dollars from Russia, a historical neighbor of Azerbaijan and its present partner within CIS. Strangely enough speculation of military means with Armenia is in full swing even now, before the eyes of all international organizations and without any shyness. New facts of such bargains have become known few days ago. According to a political scientist, the head of “Bank-information” Rovshan Novruzoghlu, since 14 November 2004 Armenia’s territory is marked as a transit zone of selling weapons and military ammunition by the Central Asian republics and Slavic countries (Russia, Ukraine and Belarus) to the third countries. In other words, the above mentioned countries can use without any obstacles the territory of Armenia while selling weapons and military ammunition to the third countries.
It is interesting that this issue was agreed with OSCE member states. And from this bargain contradicting the UN Charter and international law norms Armenia, the territory of which will turn into a “weapons warehouse,” will get 17 million US dollars compensation. As it is reported, Armenia provides its occupational and separatist corps with mercenary or “contract” soldiers. Quick reaction forces consisting of 180 mercenaries are deployed in the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
Separatist units of “NKR,” as R. Novruzoghlu affirms, are supplied with new armament. “Armani has created such conditions so that ‘NKR’ as an independent region could buy weapons from any country it wishes. Some military enterprises of Belarus sell weapons to the notorious separatist formation. For example, ‘Monitor-service’ has sold 8 light tanks of ‘2T’ type weighing 17.5 tons with the support of ‘Razdanmash’ to military company ‘Ocean’ created directly in the territory of ‘NKR’. Minsk states that ‘Monitor-service’ is a privatized enterprise and has no connection with the state (by the way the same ‘argument’ was brought in case of selling to ‘NKR’ ‘Typhoon’ missiles by China and ‘LKHD’ by Russia),” the political scientist stressed.
It is reported that “2T” tanks are the modernest ones and the destructive power of their rounds is by 2.8 times more than that of ordinary tanks. Moreover, these tanks have laser aiming device. The tank is equipped with 30 mm gun 2A42 with maximum elevation angle 85 degrees, additional 30 mm grenade launcher AQS-30 and 7.62 mm machine gun PKT. The tanks are equipped inside with pull-out launchers for “Ataka” anti-tank missiles and two “Mgla” rockets. The gun’s ammunition – 500 bullets… There are 6 additional rockets inside the machine. The tank is also armed with 12 anti-tank mines. Maximal speed is 95 km/h, fuel distance – 1,000 km… According to the reports, it is planned to deploy the tanks in the direction of Tartar region of Azerbaijan.
This is only one of the numerous facts of open armament of the unrecognized separatist Nagorno-Karabakh formation.
It should be reminded that the preparation for the next, the 10th, combined Russian-Armenian military exercise is ongoing. According to the Minister of Defence of Armenia Serj Sarkisian, the exercise, in which it is planned to test new types of weapons, will be conducted together with the 102nd military base of Russia located in this country. The Armenian minister admitted that these preparations are connected with official Armenia’s apprehension of the possible deployment of the American military forces in Azerbaijan. He did not even conceal the fact of Armenia’s aspiration for war: “We should be ready for war every instance.”
All that happens before the eyes of OSCE member states, some of which participate in such an illegal bargain on arms shipment. A question arises: What is OSCE, the mission of which includes peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, doing when the rearmament of the separatist Nagorno-Karabakh regime is in full swing?
What should Azerbaijan do in such a situation?

1 April 1993

A mountainous resort town Istisu of Kalbajar region was occupied and burnt by the bandit formations from the Armenian side. The richest resources of the local museums were misappropriated by the Armenian occupants. According to the data of 2001, in compliance with “Plan 02” developed in Yerevan, at present the Armenian terrorist organizations have turned this region into a kind of “center” for developing various types of tuberculosis as a possible bacteriological weapon (There is a special article about it in this issue of the newspaper – ed.).

5 April 1920

The Armenian band formations occupied a settlement near Tatly village of Gazakh region and cold-bloodedly massacred all its residents. Having attacked Yaradulla settlement, they butchered more than one third of its population and looted all its property. Both settlements were burnt.

During the next Russian-Persian war, the Russian troops reached the Khudafarin bridge, which was built in the XI century and has been connecting the banks of the Araz river for many centuries. This important object in South-North trade road maintained its significance until the occupation of Jabrail region by the armed forces of Armenia in 1993. It is reported that the condition of that architectural masterpiece has been critical in recent years.

21 April 1919

Mass killings of the peaceful residents in Basar-Kechar region by the Armenians on behalf of the communist power. An Armenian researcher A. Lalayan quotes the confessions of one of the leaders of the Armenian band formations: “I killed the Turkish population in Basar-Kechar by every means possible. Yet it is sometimes a pity to waste bullets for this. The best way is to gather all of these dogs and throw them into wells and then fill the wells with big and heavy stones… As I did: I gathered all of the women, men and children, threw big stones down on top of them.”

23 April 1920

The Armenian band formations attacked Shish Gaya settlement and killed all its residents, mainly the aged and women. Children were thrown alive into wells.

29 April 1918

The Armenian band formations under the head of dashnaks organized a massacre near Gumri (the then Aleksandropol). They killed 3,000 peaceful Turks, mainly women, the aged and children. Two days later, on 1 May, the Armenian bandit groups murdered 600 peasants of Shishtapa and Duzkand villages near Kars. There were many women, old people and children among the victims…

30 April 1993

The UN Security Council adopted resolution 822 in connection with the occupation of Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan by the armed forces of neighboring Armenia. The resolution demanded from Armenia to liberate the occupied territories. However this decision of the authoritative international organization remains unaccomplished so far. Armenia refuses to realize that resolution using the privilege provided by the West.

«Youth against terror»

At the scientific conference held under this title at the “Grand hotel Europe,” the true essence of the Armenian terrorism was revealed and the main directions of the activity of the country’s youth against terrorism in general and the Armenian one in particular were outlined.
Opening the conference, the head of the Congress of Youth Vugar Gadirov pointed out that the terrorism, which became the scourge of the humanity in the contemporary period, takes the lives of many people every day. Since the very beginning of its independence, Azerbaijan has been on the frontline of the struggle against terrorism, it became the member of antiterror coalition and its activity in this sphere is appreciated by international community.
“Nevertheless, it is to our great regret that the bloody terror acts of Armenia and Armenians against the Azerbaijanis still are out of the attention of the international community. Non-recognition of the facts of genocide committed by the Armenians against us resulted in facing of the Turkic world with trumped-up charges under the so-called “Armenian genocide,” V.Gadirov said.
While speaking at the conference, a political scientist Rovshan Novuzoglu and MP Elman Mammadov mentioned the facts of the genocide committed by the Armenians in the course of the centuries and pointed out that in 1918-1920 they slaughtered tens of thousands of innocent people, in 1948-1953 and 1988-1989 they deported Azerbaijanis from their homelands in Armenia, moreover, this process was accompanied by brutal acts of violence of the Armenians over the Azerbaijanis.
Representative of the Embassy of Turkey to Azerbaijan Salahaddin Dikmen stated that the vague of the Armenian attacks aimed at the whole Turkic world. President of the Forum of NGOs Azay Guliyev, researchers of the Institutes of History and Human Rights, representatives of TRT radio spoke also about the facts of genocide committed in different periods and necessity of taking measures for the world-wide recognition of the outrages committed by the Armenians.
Facts, mentioned in the report of the representative of the State Commission on prisoners of war, hostages and missing persons excited the emotions of the conference participants. Mentioning the extracts from the documents, he said:
“The atrocities, committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in the course of the last 10 years are reflected in these documents. Hundreds of the Azerbaijanis taken as hostages lost their health. The cannon-bone of three-year-old Shovgi Aliyev was excised by doctors and one-year-old Arzu Hajiyeva was crippled by the injection of unknown composition. 15-year-old Nazakat Mammadova witnessed how the ears of her father S.Mammadov were cut off and her mother was raped. Hostages Goyush Dadashov and Goncha Ibadova were shot to death in the presence of their children. Kaklik Hasanova got her teeth pulled out by pliers before other prisoners. Shargiya Shirinova was treated in the same way. Murvat Aghayev, the resident of Fuzuli region was burned alive on the bonfire. Prisoners of war Novruz Dashdamirov, Namig Garayev, Sadraddin Murshudov and others were subjected to the most insufferable tortures.” E.Samadov informed also about murdered after capture Azerbaijanis.
The event was accompanied by the demonstration of video recordings reflecting the facts of terror that Azerbaijan faced in different periods, the works of some authors on this subject were demonstrated, too.

Alikhan SAMADOV: «It is necessary to struggle against Armenian plagiarism»

A.Samadov is an Azerbaijani, living in Turkey, musician, master of performance on balaban, an ancient Azerbaijani reed wind instrument, the history of which dates back to VI-VII centuries. According to the information of “Echo” newspaper, Alikhan Samadov was declared the Armenian musician at the Armenian web site and his CD entitled “Balaban” was put up at this site for the sale as “Armenian music on CD.”
Innumerable facts of the Armenian plagiarism can be adduced in all spheres of life; we have already touched this matter upon. Provided that the example brought below is quite typical, and the Armenians don’t even try to cease this unworthy habit, we decided to familiarize our readers with the case of the Azerbaijani performer who was told about in the aforementioned newspaper. Firstly, we are going to indicate that the titles of the musical compositions in this music collection performed by Alikhan Samadov are in Russian: “You didn’t come,” “Tow-headed bribe,” “She didn’t come,” “Mirza,” “Quince blossom,” etc.
The performer says that his first “Balaban” album released in Turkey was composed exceptionally of Azerbaijani musical compositions – folk songs and dance rhythms. And Armenian “You didn’t come” is “San galmaz oldun” composed by Alakbar Taghiyev, “Tow-headed bribe” is the ancient Azerbaijani folk song “Sary galin,” “She didn’t come” – the same titled Azerbaijani song “Galmadin,” “Mirza” is the Azerbaijani dance rhythm “Mirzei,” “Quince blossom” – the Azerbaijani dance rhythm “Heyva gulu,” etc.
A.Samadov pointed out that he frequently faced the facts of the Armenian plagiarism. According to him, he recently heard that his “Balaban,” “The Land of Fire” and “Music of Azerbaijan” albums are of great popularity in Moscow. However, instead of gladness he experienced the emotional shock: it turned out that A.Samadov’s album is being offered in the unlicensed musical collections “Armenian duduk” (“duduk” is the Azerbaijani national wind instrument – G.J.). The titles of the tracks are in Azerbaijani against a background of Ararat (mountain in Armenia – G.J.). Sales people offer it to clients to their utmost – “take it, very good Armenian music!”
Alikhan is very incensed: “Armenians have always been greedy for lie. However, I will necessarily take measures. It is necessary to fight Armenian plagiarism. ‘Balaban’ album is my first disc. Many Azerbaijani musical compositions were included in this disc – ‘San galmaz oldun,’ ‘Sary galin,’ ‘Heyva gulu’ – in short, melodies from the golden fund of the Azerbaijani national music. This music, including in my performance, is very popular and performed in many countries of the world.
‘Balaban’ album is very popular in Armenia. The point is that the Armenians are convinced that balaban is the Armenian instrument. By the way, this instrument can be heard in every Armenian musical composition, both classical and pop. My duty as an Azerbaijani is the protection of Azerbaijani music and Azerbaijani instruments from such kind of infringements. I am fighting them without sense of enmity, but smiling and performing our native music. We prove our case through our creative work! In my opinion, a serious propaganda should be conducted for overcoming Armenian infringements on our art…
You know, when Armenians perform our music, I understand that they perform what they hear. We perform what we have in our heart because this music constitutes our gene pool. In order to learn performing it one must have Azerbaijani blood in veins. Therefore, we perform this music better than Armenians.”
Armenians steal not only our music and musical instruments, but also our lands, they try to misappropriate everything ours, whatever they can, even the history. It was not by chance that great Pushkin said: “You are an Armenian, you are a thief, you are a coward!”

What are the ways of the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem?

The opening ceremony of the Azerbaijani Branch of International Fund of “Karabakh” and the round table on “Realities in the process of the settlement of Karabakh problem: perspectives of the new stage” were held at “Hyatt Regency” Hotel on April 25. Some MPs, leaders of political parties, representatives of the NGOs and public organizations, political scientists and public figures attended the event.
It should be noted that the non-for-profit charity International Fund of “Karabakh” was established by more than 100 Azerbaijani entrepreneurs from Russia, CIS countries and Europe on October 1999 in Moscow. The head of the Fund is the president of Federal national-cultural autonomy of Azerbaijanis in Russia (FNCA-Azerros) Soyun Sadigov.
At the opening speech the head of the Azerbaijani branch Mehman Ismailov informed the participants about the organization and its structures, he pointed out that the mission of the Fund is informing of the world community about the truth on Karabakh, establishment of contacts with international remedial, peacekeeping and charity organizations, awakening of patriotism of each Azerbaijani and rendering of help in the struggle for Karabakh irrespective of the citizenship, ethnic identity and religion.
The appeal of S.Sadigov to the participants of the conference was listened, which ended as follows: “No force will stop us on the way of the liberation of the Azerbaijani territories occupied by Armenia.”
The head of the Branch’s Council of Elders, political scientist Eldar Namazov key-noted where he made a thorough analysis of the current situation in the process of the settlement of the conflict. The key-note speaker focused on the activity of international organizations dealing with the settlement of the conflict, the double standard based approach of some of them and the policy carried out by Armenia inhibiting this process, as well as internal problems of Azerbaijan.
Having mentioned that the Nagorno-Karabakh problem emerged as the result of the activity of Armenians aimed at the realization of the so-called plan of “Great Armenia,” the head of the Branch’s Board said that this problem became a mean in the geopolitical games in the region.
Head of the Party of Great Construction Fazil Gazanfaroglu, political scientists Rasim Musabayov and Zardusht Alizada, academi
