Voice of Karabakh # 60

TOPICAL QUOTE
Recep Tayyip ERDOGAN, Turkish Prime Minister:

“The Turkish-Armenian border will not get opened unless the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh is resolved. We told it to them. At present, negotiations between Aliyev, Medvedev and Sarkisyan were intensified. We are now more close to the resolving of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, than earlier. Without settlement of this problem opening of our borders is impossible”.

Magomed Bagir BAHRAMI, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan:

“Azerbaijan’s development, progress means Iran’s development. Azerbaijan’s future and security is connected with Iran’s future and security. We consider that Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can not be solved without participation of the countries of the region. Outside countries have not made an improvement in the settlement of the conflict for 17 years, OSCE Minsk Group’s activity is ineffective. History has shown that no aggressive country can stay in the occupied lands forever. Iran has always condemned and is condemning this invasion.
Relations between Iran and Armenia were established to solve Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peacefully. There are no doubts that the Nagorno-Karabakh problem should be solved within the limits of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Nagorno-Karabakh will return to embraces of his mother – Azerbaijan”.

Armenians about Armenians Robert ARAKELOV

KARABAKH DIARY (beginning in previous issues)
TWO GUITARS ON OTHER SIDE OF WALL
Three years after Karabakh events, if you meet a person in Sepanakert who has not forgotten to reason normally, then you should know that he could only be originally from Baku. If not he then she; and N is one of them… N was born in Stepanakert, but 25 years ago, when she was 19 years old, she married a guy from Baku and moved to the city to stay there, as she believed, forever. But the life had its own plans; a year ago, together with her family, she returned to her mother in Stepanakert. N was talkative and once when we met in a Stepanakert street she plunged into memories.
– Once I was sitting at home, there in Baku, and was watching a TV program about Karabakh events. Suddenly, in the raging Stepanakert crowd, I noticed my own mother, shouting terrible slogans. In a big shot! Can you imagine my condition? Well, all my neighbors knew her well; she would visit us several times a year.
Shocked with what I saw, I jumped to the phone and called her and asked:
– Mom, what are you doing there? Consider us, me, your grandchildren. We are ashamed and afraid of all your tricks.
– Do you know what she replied, – N continues, – she said that nobody made us live in Baku. “For not being ashamed and afraid, move here. Here, you all can find a place.” Thus, I moved here… No place else to go….
Sadly smiling, N becomes silent, maybe, remembering her past, her home in Baku. I became silent, too. Then, I ask:
– Who is your mother, what does she do?
– Nothing. Two years ago, she retired. Before, she had worked at school for 30 years.
– I can imagine what she had taught the children – I dropped a remark.
But here her bus arrived and she left.
After two weeks, I met her again, returning home from market with shopping bags in hand. I suggested to her: “Let me help you and, by the way, see your patriot mother.”
– Ok, – she agreed, but having heard my ill fame, she warned me, “do not make strong statements, or she will throw you out at once as she does not stand on ceremony.”
– Ok, I will keep silent, – I promised to her and we went towards her house. It did not take us long to reach there, about 20 minutes. And we entered a little yard of a little one storey building, where, as N had told me on the way, two more families, N’s and her brother’s, lived besides her mother.
I looked around; in a far corner of the yard, I saw an overweight woman and an adolescent next to her, sitting on an ottoman under a shed. The adolescent had a book in hand and while we were crossing the yard, N managed to patter:
– This is my nephew and mom’s favorite grandson. He is seventh grader and grandma’s permanent page in all meetings and demonstrations.
We approached the woman and N introduced me as her old time friend. Then she seated me on the ottoman at the table and went to prepare tea. I exchanged couple sentences with the woman and soon became silent seeing the woman’s reluctance to hold long conversations. At that point nothing seemed to interest her more than what was in the book, which her grandson held. And she commanded:
– Where did you stop? Come on, continue, read louder.
Having opened the book on the pages wherein he put his finger, the boy continued reading, which was interrupted by my arrival:
– Sultan Abdul-Hamid II came to the Turkish throne on 31 August 1876. He was a cruel and insidious ruler, organizing…
An adolescent grandson reads a book to his grandmother who is losing sight. It seems such a peaceful, such, if you will, an idyllic picture; but why, why do both the grandmother and the grandson have such angry, such spitefully concentrated faces; why is the boy’s voice not clear and ringing, but hard and dry, why is there so much metal in it? I look at this adolescent, listen to his tiresome reading, and am unexpectedly drawn by my memories of own adolescence…. Almost 40 years ago, I, like this boy, was a seventh grader. Having no bicycle, no photo camera, no accordion, all I did in leisure after school was reading. I read history books more than anything. However, how come, I have never read about this Abdul-Hamid. Perhaps, because he was no musketeer, no sea dog, no Carbonaro, no member of the “Narodnaya Volya” (“People’s Freedom”). Anyway, even in the libraries, nobody would recommend me books about him. N said that this boy ran with his grandma to all demonstrations. Where did I run when I was his age? Did I run at all? Yes, yes, I remembered: I did. I used to run to a Baku park far from home to watch for the fifth time the trophy movie, His Butler’s Sister, and for the fifth time to hear how marvelously mangling the words, Deanna Durbin (she was fairy of my adolescence) sang the lines of old Russian love song, “Two guitars on the other side of the wall lamentably whined”… Ah, how she sang! And so many years have passed, but those two guitars are still moaning in my soul… At last, tea was ready. Having changed her clothes, N poured tea. I returned from my far adolescence… I heard again: Sultan Abdul-Hamid II. Such melancholy sank into the heart that everything around became unbearable and disgusting. All: this woman, her grandson, Abdul-Hamid, and even poor N who was not guilty of anything. I thought she had nothing to do with it, but coming out of control I almost shouted:
– I do not need tea, I must leave.
N surprisingly looked at me and as if asked:
– Maybe, you drink a cup of tea?
– No, no, – I answered, – I really must leave. Bye.
I left the house with fast steps to hear there in the street alone the song of Deanna Durbin, who may not be alive anymore:
Why and for what I have tears in my eyes
This is just nothing, mourning of the love. (to be continued)

RUINS (beginning in previous issues)

Yuriy POMPEEV, academician of RANS, professor at St Petersburg State University of Culture and Art
National hostility on the land of Karabakh obviously did not reveal itself by late XIX century. But it was boiling up. As Brokgauz and Efron witness, at those times Armenians were “scattered through all parts of Northern and Southern Caucasus, their large part moved here from Persia and Turkey only after the establishment of Russian sway in the Southern Caucasus” (vol.11, 1890, p.838). Then, the dictionary mentions the disposition of “Caucasian Armenians towards European education and trading.” Urban Armenians monopolized many fields of work, almost all trade of Caucasian area, significant part of population of which, particularly Georgians became completely dependent on them.
Armenians, moved to the Southern Caucasus, joined the ranks of the European class of merchants. Lazaryan was not the only one to find himself in Amsterdam with his Great Mogul…French utopist Charles Fourier (1772-1837), who did not like his mercenary century and called the class of merchants the most deceitful in the society, drew attention to this situation. Characterizing their generalized portrait, C.Fourier addressed Armenians, representing a significant portion of merchants in the Western Europe of those times (knyaz Fyodor Dmitriyevich let them settle in Galitsk Russia in the second half of XI century, and in XIV century, an Armenian episcopacy in Lvov was established). After the allotment of lands of Asia Minor between Byzantine and Seljuk in XI century, Armenians served in Lithuanian army of Vitovt, as well as for Polish queen Yadviga, as well as for kings Sigismund and Jan Kazimour, who also took a good care of Armenians. “The reason of this care,” as Brokgauz and Efron conclude “was mainly in the fact that Armenians were mediators in trade between the West and the East, as a consequence of which, they gathered large wealth in their hands.”
Great majority of peoples despise trade; Fourier departed from such postulate and continued: “Natural instinct never deceives: the object of despise, i.e. trading, conceals some detestable hidden feeling.”
In his capital work Theory of four movements and common destinies (1808), Charles Fourier thought it necessary to note: “Secrecy and crafty swindle deeply characterize Armenians; their arguments are as much hypocritical as convincing. Used to despotism, humiliations, treachery, they do not stop in front of anything in order to achieve their goal; the religion is just a weapon in their hands, serving to self-interest and deceit. In Russia, they follow Greek ritual, in Persia – Mohammedian and so on so forth.”
Without sharing C. Fourier’s main premise on outcomes of work of a certain people in the history of humanity, I would like to support the convincing example of the great utopist: the reflection of a bee’s labor is honey and beehive, while the product of the monstrous work of a wasp becomes a useless and dead box, as if incarnating the example of many trading-industrial miracles, which lead people to poverty and ignorance. Fourier considered the wasp the emblem of ignorance and social discord, during which wasp swarm destroys itself, because the essence of this swarm is hostile attitude not only to the other person as to a rival, but also to his/her constructive labor: as a wasp attacks without any seen offence and particularly impudently stifles bees.
Neither a country, nor a people must become similar to a wasp swarm…
In 1907, A.S.Budilovich, the author of the book, Can Russia give its outskirts to non-Russians?, noted with alertness “Armenians’ yearning to restore Great Armenia within the borders of Mitridat realm,” in those years, causing bloody clashes in Baku, Shusha, Yelisavetpol, and Erevan.
“Due to their slyness, riches and influence on Russian administrators of the Caucasus,” Budilovich wrote on Armenians’ decomposing role in the Caucasus, “despite their population size (1.5mln), significantly yielding to the Russian (3.5mln) and the Turkish population (2mln), in recent years, Armenians managed to flood blood throughout the Southern Caucasus. Hundreds of Russians of military and civil rank fell mainly of their daggers, bombs, and revolvers. Russian troops had to re-conquer the Southern Caucasus, like in the times of knyaz Tsitsianov and general Yermolov.” (to be continued)

ARMENIANS CUCKOLDING GEORGIA

To be objective, for the sake of justice, it must be noted that Armenian horns have always been (read: through all the existence of this nation) pushed against all, on whose territories they have lived.
We do not need to go far to find examples. A bright example is the case with Azerbaijan. Armenians, resettled from Turkey and Iran to Azerbaijani territories, exactly through ‘cuckolding,’ managed to first establish Armenian state on the territories of Western Azerbaijan, later establishing Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region within the territory of former Azerbaijan SSR; and as is known, in the late 80’s of the previous century, the motive for ‘cuckolding’ was objections on separating NKAR from Azerbaijan. Bloody consequences of these Armenian tricks, resulting in the largest humanitarian tragedy in the region, are known to the whole world.
The similar Armenian scenario of appropriation of others’ lands now planned to be realized in Georgia. As is known, like in all other parts of the world, in this country as well (mostly in Javakhetia), there are Armenians. From time to time, they raise various types of ‘Armenian questions’; they either claim historical belonging of these lands to Armenians, or demand autonomy, or God knows what else. I remember four years ago Armenians from Javakhetia put ultimatum to Tbilisi with requests of autonomy. In the resolution of the forum of working Armenian political and social organizations in Javakhetia, held in September 2005, a request to the official Tbilisi on consideration of the question of federative system of the country and on granting to Javakhetia region, wherein the majority of the population are Armenians, the status of autonomous land under Georgia. It was then that, mentioning this fact, we as if warned Georgian government: “To the attention of Georgian government! It is the beginning of future Georgian variant of Nagorno-Karabakh!” It seems we were not mistaken, as it is confirmed by following events.
Thus, the next step in the given direction was taken on already a government level. Serj Sarkisyan, the president of Armenia, in a meeting with the heads of diplomatic mission of the country abroad, speaking of the importance of granting a special status to Armenian language, stated: “I think that granting to Armenian language the status of regional language in Georgia, providing Armenian apostolic church with status registration, measures in protecting Armenian monuments will only contribute to the strengthening of Armenian-Georgian friendship, the deepening of the atmosphere of mutual trust.” This irresponsible, exclusively Armenian statement is a ‘mine,’ set by Sarkisyan, which will probably be exploded by zealous Armenian politicos. It is surely clear that “…will only contribute to the strengthening of Armenian-Georgian friendship, the deepening of the atmosphere of mutual trust” is just a screen over future Armenian attacks for appropriation of Georgian lands.
The given statement, which can provoke in Samtskhe-Javakheti new aggravation, raised, as expected, sharp protest in the Georgian society. Because there they know Armenians well and perfectly realize at which perspective the latter aim. Thus, Timur Yakobashvili, the Georgian minister on reintegration, on the question of Sarkisyan’s statement, parried: “I do not even want to think about granting a regional status to the Armenian language in Javakhetia.” He continued with noticeable sarcasm: “Armenia should work on the development of the Armenian language in its own country, and we are happy that the Armenian language is the only official language in Armenia.” Expressing attitude to the given subject, Georgiy Sagareishvili, the member of Georgian Parliament, said: “if in Javakhetia, the status of a regional language is granted to the Armenian language, the same request will be made by Azerbaijanis, Kurds, and other minorities. However, they do not think of such requests.” The MP also reminded that Georgia has reasons for putting forward claims against Armenia: “In 1921, when the Bolsheviks came to power, through Stalin’s and Ordjonikidze’s help, some lands of Kvemo-Kartli were given to Armenia. We had historical-cultural monuments there, as well as churches. Now, they are in deplorable condition… Sometime ago, when Armenians were exiled by powerful states, we provided them with refuge and even protected them. To tear a part of Georgia from us will be impossible. Armenians claim Nagorno-Karabakh. However, they must understand that they are doomed to live with Azerbaijanis. Osetians and Abkhazians must remember it. They must realize that the time will come and both Georgia and Azerbaijan will rise to fight for liberation of their historical places. This day is close.” Meanwhile, Grigol Vashadze, in a visit to Armenia, concretely reacted to the question regarding the Armenian president’s statement: “According to the Constitution of Georgia, the state language is Georgian, and in Abkhazia, the second language is Abkhazian. In Javakhetia, the population is more than 70 thousand, including more than 60 thousand Armenians; large number of Armenians lives and work in Tbilisi. They have their own schools, theatres; they issue papers, and have other rights. Armenians freely communicate in their own language and with one another. Georgia is a multi-national country. No other language will be granted status here. I would advise national minorities to learn Georgian. If we follow the road shown by Armenia, it will take us to the destruction of Georgia and its statehood.”
Exactly. And what do you think Armenians need? In the map of mythical “Great Armenia”, there is no Azerbaijan, no Georgia, and disappears a certain part of Russia. By the way, in Georgia, many do not exclude the role of the latter in Armenia’s claim against their country. Thus, deputy chairperson of the committee on external affairs of the Georgian parliament, Georgiy Kandelaki, stated that Russia stirs up Armenia against Georgia: “Russia strengthens pressure to provoke Armenia against us… Russia can take advantage of Javakhetia to disturb stability in the region.”
Yes, our forecast of four years’ history gradually proves itself. The Armenian horns brought forward against Georgia can already be seen. It means “Georgian variant of Nagorno-Karabakh” cannot be avoided. Here you are another seat of war, kindled by Armenia…

ARMENIAN EXTREME IMPUDENCE

We hope the reader forgives us for using words with such dramatically expressive negative color. Believe me we do not select these words; they suggest themselves when it comes to the majority of representatives of Armenian nationality.
How can one dispense such ‘colorful’ words to the address of representatives of “the most ancient, civilized,” as well as “oppressed” people when on every step, he/she witnesses their most obvious negativity? When a creature in a human appearance looks into your eyes and impudently insists that the opposite of the evident happened.
It has become their national peculiarity. An Armenian proves the “blackness of yogurt” with such impudence that one starts to doubt his/her own eyes. Moreover, they raise it to a culmination point, i.e. to an extreme level. Don’t you believe it? Have patience, now, you will see yourselves.
According to the pro-Armenian IA REGNUM, from the faction “Nasledie” (“Heritage”) a statement project on “recognition of crimes of Azerbaijani authorities to the Armenian population in settlements of Azerbaijan SSR and NKAR (Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region – G.N.) in 1988-1992 years” was submitted to the parliament of Armenia. Armen Rustamian, the head of the commission, MP representing Armenian revolutionary federation ‘Dashnaksutyun,’ suggested to mention in the statement, which was initiated by MP Larisa Alaverdian, the question of responsibility of Azerbaijani authorities. The latter grounded her initiative: “it will create grounds to transfer the issue of Karabakh regulation to another level, i.e. to deprive Azerbaijan, as a result of genocidal actions of which the problem of refugees emerged, of the right to grant any status to Karabakh.”
You see? Not only, by any means, have they been trying to deprive Azerbaijan of the right to Nagorno-Karabakh (NK), the inseparable part of the territory of the latter; but they also have impudence to blame on others the genocide, which they committed (such happened regularly throughout the history of neighboring of Armenians with Azerbaijanis, particularly in early and late XX century) against innocent Azerbaijani people during the war imposed onto Azerbaijan by Armenia in 1988-1994. I do not want to go into the endless facts, which prove the above-mentioned and about which we have written in our newspaper. I will only note that in order to be sure on this, it is sufficient to remember excerpts from the books by Dawud Kheyriyan For the Name of Christ and Zoriy Balayan Resurrection of our Soul (see article ‘Genuine Armenian Nature’ in issue 33 of the paper ‘Voice of Karabakh’ for January-February 2007), where the Armenian authors proudly describe countless inhuman genocide crimes that Armenians committed against Azerbaijanis.
Another example of extreme impudence of Armenians. Besides Armenia’s purpose of joining NK to itself, consequently creating humanitarian calamity named Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and occupying seven regions surrounding NK, Armenians claim the territories of these regions. According to mass-media, in the center of the occupied Lachin region, already renamed to Kashatagarskiy, there has recently been a demonstration, organized by “youth organization of Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaksutyun in Artsakh,” where the main request of the demonstration participants was: “liberated Kashatagarskiy region, as all the territories, fixed in the Constitution of NKR, cannot be an object of trade.” It means the Armenian side, not content with the occupation of NK, still has its eye on the territories around NK. By the way, regarding the fact of “these fixed territories in the Constitution of NKR,” Artur Tovmasyan, the chairman of the faction of “Rodina” (“Motherland”) of “National Assembly of Nagorno-Karabakh” has recently spoken: “Today the liberated lands (implies the occupied Azerbaijani territories – G.N.) have already been fixed in the Constitution of NKR. They are parts of the united territory of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and one cannot speak of them in another context.” Regarding the so-called ‘Constitution of ‘NKR’,’ in its Article 142, it is actually written: “Until the restoration of integrity of state territory of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and specification of borders, public authority applies to the territory under actual jurisdiction of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.” Here you are a form of official classic Armenian extreme impudence.
Let us now get to extravagant statements of another official representative of extremely impudent generation – deputy minister of foreign affairs of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan. So, in his two interviews (IA REGNUM and radio station “Echo of Moscow”), this Armenian demonstrated so much impudence that if we started to mention all the nonsense he said we would need three pages of the newspaper. It is not worth to spoil the paper with trifles, stated by a person who, by the way, shares the same last name with the former president of Armenia. We also do not want to bother our readers with all kind of impertinent twaddle. However, we will cite some “popular dicta.”
Firstly, this incompetent diplomat, high ranking official of the country, who stirred up international discord, tries to show Armenia up in a better way, denouncing Azerbaijan, exposed to aggression, in everything that happened: “Who is responsible for the consequences of the conflict? It is a humanitarian disaster with tens of thousands of victims, hundreds of thousands of refugees and internally displaced people, colossal material loss, the territories transferred under mutual control. Who is responsible for all these? Azerbaijan attempts to present itself a victim, although it is the initiator of military operations, and therefore, the responsibility for the consequences lies on Azerbaijan as an aggressor… As a response, self-determination of people of Nagorniy Karabakh was followed by disorders in Sumgayit, Baku, Kirovabad, and other settlements. Ethnic cleansing took place. There was a wide scale war. This is what happened. I note this all for one simple reason. Who is responsible for the consequences of the conflict? Naturally, the side, which stirred up military gin. It is Azerbaijan.”
One is simply astonished by the extent of impertinence and “ability” to change places of the guilty and the victim. The actual story clearly records everything. Who, actually, started to muddy the waters? When Abel Aganbekyan, a well known academician, assistant of Michael Gorbachev, during his visit to Paris in late October 1987, threw the first match into the Karabakh powder keg, there were hundreds of thousands of Armenians living in Azerbaijan without any problems; not only did they live, there were so many ministers, deputy ministers, other high ranking officials of Armenian ethnicity. When all Azerbaijani population was deported from Armenian there was no “Sumgayit, Baku, Kirovabad, and other settlements.” Who started and conducted ethnic cleansing: Azerbaijan, wherein even now, after so many dirty tricks of Armenians, tens of thousands of people of the latter ethnicity still live, or Armenia, wherein out of several hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis, not one remained?! Who started the war? When in Armenia, local Azerbaijanis were exposed to unbelievable tortures and abuse; tens of Azerbaijani children were immured into a tube, soldered from both sides, later found by French rescuers after the earthquake in Armenia, in Azerbaijan, not one of Armenians had a nosebleed. On the Azerbaijani territory, from the beginning of the conflict, blood was first shed by Armenians: in February 1988, they killed two adolescents from Aghdam, Ali and Bakhtiyar. Then, if the “wide scale war” were started by Azerbaijan, as bluffed by Sh.Kocharyan, could he show which settlements of Armenia had been occupied or at least destroyed by the former?
Comparing Azerbaijan with China, who, possessing huge advantages, “does not solve the Taiwan question through force, whereas Taiwan is a Chinese territory and Chinese live there,” Kocharyan introduces his Armenian “alibi”: “In the case of Nagorno-Karabakh, it is a historical Armenian land with indigenous Armenian population.” It is interesting whether the diplomat, holding the position of deputy minister of foreign affairs, actually, is not aware of at least one of many historical documents on resettlement of Armenians from Turkey and Iran to Azerbaijani territories? It is impossible that he is not. However, if so, it is simply shameful; then, let this candidate of biological sciences (?! – G.N.) dig historical archives.
Further, Shavarsh “observes” the parties of Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict: “Two main parties are self-determined Nagorno-Karabakh republic and Azerbaijan… The third party, drawn into the conflict is the republic of Armenia.”
Outrageous lie! Nobody drew Armenia into the conflict, on the contrary, Armenia was in the roots of the conflict, which is proved at least by the following two documents. On 23 March of 1988, Presidium of Supreme Council of the former USSR adopted a resolution on “measures, connected to appeals of union republics regarding events in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani and Armenian SSR,” wherein considered it “… inadmissible, when complicated national-territorial questions are attempted to be solved through pressures onto state authority institutions, in the atmosphere of emotions and passions; arbitrary groupings of all kinds, which come out for changing national-state and national-administrative borders, consolidated in the Constitution of USSR, are created, which in its turn can lead to unexpected consequences” (it all was addressed to the Armenian side, as it was Armenia who took upon changing of borders through the mentioned methods – G.N.). In the resolution, dated on July 18 of 1988, on “solutions of Supreme Councils of Armenian SSR and Azerbaijani SSR on the question of Nagorno-Karabakh”, the same institution considered “… impossible the change of borders and national-territorial division of Azerbaijani SSR and Armenian SSR, determined on constitutional grounds.”
As was mentioned above, it is impossible to analyze completely these two interviews with S.Kocharyan, as they are filled with distortions and falsifications of facts, with lies and slanders. However, it is also impossible to pass by the following extremely impudent statement. Speaking about national composition of the former NKAR, he cynically states: “On the territory of NKR, Azerbaijanis resided… They left Karabakh.” As if one day they got up and left their own indigenous lands, left their native homes, all their heritage, collected for centuries; they killed, burned, tortured themselves! One must be an extreme cynic to state such nonsense!
It is true that there is no limit to the Armenian impudence, cynicism, and insidiousness….

Maniacal REQNUMic biasness

In the June issue of our newspaper titled “Pro-Armenian REQNUM” we have already written about the biased, unfair, insincere and pro-Armenian position of REQNUM Information Agency and touched upon this subject in different articles as well. The unwillingness of the agency to repudiate its position made us to return to the problem discussed earlier.
The impudence reaches to the level of a political diversion, which is to be discussed later. Now we would like to touch upon some points that eloquently prove the above-mentioned position of the agency.
First of all, the proof to it – is existence of special section of the “News Armenia” that is not present on other post soviet republics.
Without self-restraint, constraint and feeling of responsibility REQNUM writes “NKR”, “NKR Government”, “Capital of NKR”, “President of NKR” etc., of course without any quotes, though perfectly knows that no country, including Armenia and Russia where the named agency functions has not recognized this separatist formation. Moreover it refer to the conflict as “Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict”, which expresses the idea that “Azerbaijan has started the conflict and it leads it with Karabakh”, while over the world and even in the documents of the international organizations the formula “Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict” appears. Almost in all articles related to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis it prominently expresses its ironic and contemptuous position towards them.
Now let’s talk about the political diversion of REQNUM on relation to Azerbaijan which was mentioned above. I will cite a concrete example. Recently, to be more accurate, on September 15 of this year, under the title of “Azerbaijani troops opened sniper fire towards Armenian troops” the Information Agency published the below information “In the areas of the contact line of armed forces of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan the breach of cease fire has been recorded today. It started a day before, on September 14. The press service of the Ministry of Defense of NKR informed the correspondent of IA REQNUM News.
According to the source, the Azerbaijani side fired in the positions of the defense troops of NKR with small-caliber weapons and sniper rifles in the directions of southern-east, east and northern-east. “After the responsive acts of the Karabakh subdivisions the opponent part was stopped.”– the press service of the Ministry of Defense of NKR informed.”
First of all, the heading itself is provocative, because Azerbaijani troops never open “sniper fire” to the enemy positions, but rather responds by firing when it becomes necessary. And secondly, about which “troops of NKR” they are talking when it is well-known that Armenian troops are in Karabakh, which is confirmed by numerous facts, including the asylum seeking soldiers of the Armenian army passing to Azerbaijani side. Thirdly, you can notice with the naked eye the falseness of this information at the first sight: there is neither concrete direction here nor the time of “firings of Azerbaijani side”. For comparison I will bring one of the most updated daily information: “The armed forces of Armenia have breached the cease fire in several directions. The AF subdivision of Armenia fired the opposite side in the AF direction of Azerbaijan on September 14, at 14:20-14:40 from the position of nameless heights in Goygol region, near Gulustan village of Goranboy region at 18:25-18:50, not far from the villages of Merzili and Tagibeyli of Aghdam region at 22:40-23:00 and at 05:45-06:05, August 15, and from the position not far from Horadiz village of Fuzuli region at 01:20- 01:35, from Mehdili village of Jabrayil region at 01:45-02:20. In all cases the firing was stopped with the answers and no casualties were reported, the press service of the Ministry of Defense informed APA”.
On September 10 of this year REQNUM published the information related to the report of Azerbaijani mass media about the exchange of fire between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops in the contact line of troops under the title of ”Stepanakert refuted the information on the exchange of fire and casualties in the area of Karabakh conflict”, where it says that there was no exchange of fire between fighting sides that day and the Azerbaijani media’s information that “5 Armenian soldiers were killed and 3 wounded in the course of the fighting in the direction of Bashgarvend village” is not true.
Moreover, REQNUM IA does not mention that even MFA of Turkey expressed its official concern on the exchange of fire in the contact line of troops.
In short, a constant REQNOMic partiality follows in every step. If no, why this IA has not still even once published information on the breach of armistice regime by Armenian forces at least with the reference to the almost daily news of Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan? There are examples to obvious pro-Armenian and anti-Azerbaijani attitude of the above-mentioned agency as much as you want but unlikely it will change anything.
Like it or not but persuasions on the manic pro-Armenian position of REQNUM IA is getting deeper and deeper. But it is unclear how the collaborators of the agency disregard the universal moral bases and principles of journalistic ethics.

Separative feast

For several years, annually in the beginning of September Armenians mark anniversary “declarations of independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic” on their interpretation, actually – establishments of a separative regime in Nagorno-Karabakh (NK).
And this year did not become an exception. It seems that the Armenians think that more they will speak, write, shout about “independent” NКR””, Armenia will be the more than patronageted various socio-political shows in NК, the sooner will be realized mythical dream about “independence of Nagorno-Karabakh” or about NК as a part of Armenia.
So, early of September of this year in the Hankendi city (Stepanakert) held separatist feast dedicated to the 18th anniversary of the notorious “NКR”, where there have arrived initiators of separative movement in Karabakh – Robert Kocharyan (first “president pf “NКR”” and the second president of Armenia), Serzh Sarkisyan (the present president of Armenia), Arcady Gukasyan (the second president of “NКR”), the general major Arcady Ter-Tadevosyan (Commandos) and others “high respectable” guests.
By itself fact “celebration of independence” “NКR” – is already the abnormal phenomenon against self-declared and non-recognition of the separatist regime. But this has become the traditional excitement of Armenians if to take into consideration known all world community is not a positive characterization of the Armenian, at times does not cause special reaction in the public. The main indicator is annoying here is the other side of the issue.
The fact is that this mass visit of the state top of Armenia in NК is the next rough infringement of principles of inviolability of borders of the sovereign country, without speaking about aggressive rhetoric of the president and other officials of Armenia during similar actions. By the way, the given fact served as the direction of the Azerbaijani party of the official letter of protest to the UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon. In the letter, in particular, is noticed “Azerbaijan considers the aforementioned visits to the occupied territories and bellicose rhetoric as an open challenge to the ongoing efforts towards the soonest political settlement of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In reality Armenia undertook yet another attempt to justify its annexationist policy and mislead the international community by means of blatant distortion of facts as to the origin and essence of the ethnically constructed subordinate separatist entity which the world refused to recognize”. It is noted that the ritualistic visit of the high-ranking officials and diplomats of Armenia to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan to commemorate the events, which became a starting point of large-scale war between the two states and caused incalculable human sufferings, testifies that Armenia fails to fulfill its most basic and compelling responsibilities and gives preference to escalation with unpredictable consequences. Further, the General Assembly expressly reaffirmed in resolution 62/243 of 14 March, 2008, entitled “The situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan”, continued respect and support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognize borders as a basis for the settlement of the conflict.
It is interesting, how the UN reacts to the given protest? Whether will comprehend the fate of its previous four resolutions (822, 853, 874, 884) Security Council of this organisation?

Chapter three ARMENIA WAS CREATED AS A DICTATOR COUNTRY
Real formation of Armenia
This is a terrible misleading statement. First of all, neither France, Great Britain, nor the United States ever entered into an agreement with Armenia that “proclaimed that Armenians would be indemnified and that never again would they be allowed to experience “the blasting tyranny of the Turk”.
In fact, the United States never even declared war on the Ottomans. If America never went to war with this country, how could the United States “proclaim” the Armenians would be indemnified?
What Hovannissian alludes to are comments a few individuals made, speaking for themselves only. The Armenians poisoned the minds of a few people and they made statements about the terrible things that were alleged to have happened to Christians by Muslims. These private statements were made in response to the Armenians playing the religion-race card of Christians versus. These words were nothing more than prejudiced personal comments. This is why official agreements and treaty requirements never gave such assurances or recognition to Armenia. Once official investigations into the wild claims of Armenians were completed, the allies rejected their claims outright. Much more will be said of this in the chapters to come.
Chapter four
THE ARMENIAN NUMBERS GAME AND THEIR USE OF TWO SETS OF BOOKS
The new countries of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia could no longer enjoy the economic support they once received from Russia. “Furthermore, each of the nascent republics promptly measured political and economic security in terms of area controlled and thus strove to gain the maximum possible land. Territorial disputes loomed as the greatest impediment to satisfactory relations among the republics of Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan” (citation from earlier mentioned book of Richard Hovannisian).
Armenia would invade both Georgia and Azerbaijan in its land-grab efforts. In fact, Armenia continues such military invasions of neighbor lands to this day by attacking Azerbaijan a short time after it broke away from the Soviet Union in 1992. The Armenians, with more than a billion dollars in military help from Russia, attacked and captured more than 20 percent of Azerbaijan under the pretext of helping Christians, by removing more than 1 million Muslims and claiming this was their Christian “historic homeland”.
The truth of the matter is, Armenia wanted more land to improve its terrible economy. The Azerbaijan refugees, some 1 million of them, have lived in total poverty in tent cities across Azerbaijan for more than ten years. When the Armenians lived in squalor during World War I, they begged the world for handouts. Today, the Armenian lobby in the United States objects to Americans giving aid to Azerbaijan refugees. Isn’t this odd as well as being unfair? Here, Armenia, who “claims” to be the first Christian nation, doesn’t want the poor people of their neighbor helped after they drove them from their homes. This isn’t what Christ taught! (to be continued)

National Heroes of Azerbaijan
Heroically died in an unequal battle

Forty years ago, when he brought pleasure with his birth to parents, even they never thought that he will be theirs only 22 years, and then will forever leave to the Most High…
Ahmedov Natig Ilyas oglu was born on September 1, 1969 in Kosalar village of Khojali district of Azerbaijan. He was only six years, when owing to objective circumstances the family has moved to a permanent life in the Novruzlu village of Aghdam district where he spent his childhood and teenage years. Here he graduated high school, then sent to active military service in the former Soviet Army, which served in an artillery unit in the Kaliningrad city of Russia.
Discharged from the army in 1988, Natig some time worked in this city, but then decided to return home. More precisely, the feeling of attachment to native places has pulled the young man back. Having arrived to Novruzlu, he has started to work in vine-growing collective farm.
The athletic physique, tall, physical strength of Natig differed among contemporaries. Being still the pupil, he always adequately protected honour of the school at sports competitions. At the end of the same high school, he was invited into the combined team on football of Aghdam. In subsequent Natig was engaged in training of secrets of karate – east kind of sports on hand-to-hand fight in the Riga city.
Times when invasion of the Armenian armed gangster forces every day more and more got intensive character and the number of the atrocities committed by them in the territory of Nagorno- Karabakh and nearby areas has exceeded hundreds. During this intense time N.Ahmedov was adopted as an inspector of road-patrol service of Department of Internal Affairs of Khojaly district. Already the Armenian armed provocation against Azerbaijanis amplified not on days, and on hours. Live communication with settlements of a mountain part of Karabakh has been extremely complicated because of continuous bombardments of the Armenian insurgents. Armenians established the latent posts from which fired at vehicles along roads, continuously committed various terrorist acts.
N.Ahmedov was responsible on safety of the passenger buses following on a route of Aghdam-Shusha, as has been committed many terrorist acts, as a result of which there were human casualties. Some times he rescued people from obvious death, and he repeatedly finds himself face to face with it.
On September, 26, 1991… Natig together with a colleague Ali should pass extremely dangerous road through the Askeran settlement located between Aghdam and Hankendi (Stepanakert) and to be in the workplace in Khojaly for reception of the new task. But these two friends, two colleagues did not reach to the place of work. The car is operated by Ali, has undergone to bombardment by hiding in ambush armed Armenians. Despite desperate shooting of the Azerbaijan policemen, these two young men, more than themselves loving the Native land and relatives, died heroically in this unequal battle.
Twenty-two years Natig had no time to start a family…
On September 8, 1992, Natig Ilyas oglu Ahmedov was posthumously conferred the honorary title of the National Hero of Azerbaijan by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan.
The hero is buried in Novruzlu village of Aghdam district.

CAPTIVE’S STORY
(Completion. Beginning in previous flimsies)

My imprisonment proceeded two years, two months and one day. When it was known that we will release, at first I did not believed. Really, it is difficult to believe, when it comes true, what you dreamt more than two years in unbearable conditions, and, without hoping that the dream will come true. So I thought that me deceive, just decided to change a jail and harm to play a trick thus, giving hope, and then taking it away. How many times such happened in captivity. However on December, 22, 1995 I have transported through the Iranian border in the Tabriz city.
Indeed, there was an exchange in which the Armenian security service was engaged and has received Armenian prisoners of war for us. Already we were brought from Tabriz to Baku by representatives of the Iranian government. I was absolutely bad, have hardly sustained press conference in the Iranian embassy after which I have placed in the hospital of the Ministry of National Safety. Another sixty more Azerbaijan prisoners of war, that were then in Stepanakert, have been released and brought to Azerbaijan…
Many people ask me, reproach, why I was not shot myself. To tell the truth, if I knew that for tests wait for me in a captivity, I would prefer death there, on road turn behind a hill where have stopped our car. But in captivity to commit suicide is very difficult, though the death so is close. Why the people live in captivity? What for wishes to live, when he was beaten to death, tortured? What for clings to a life when knows, that every day he can hammer in, shoot down simply so when he can die from hunger, cold, louses, different illnesses? But so the person is arranged, he does not wish to die, wishes to live.
And I did not want to kill myself for one reason. Only be not surprised, understand me correctly. The matter is that Armenians are not always returning the bodies of the victims in captivity or in the battlefield of the Azerbaijanis. For each exchanged or the sold body is necessary nine dead persons who are hastily dug in tombs, and tombs it is difficult to name them is simple holes, in which corpses throw and throw the earth, as carrion. In captivity I have not time to bury the dead and the killed. Since the pit was a rather shallow, they are often torn apart by the jackals, foxes, stray dogs, that gnawing corpses. How many times, bringing at the head of a funeral command new party of dead persons to a burial place, I saw, how old tombs dug up, corpses lying around eaten and gnawed his hands, feet, heads, ribs and spine. It was a horrible sight. How many times when escorts resolved, having rolled up from an intolerable stench moistened in water, scarfs and rags, noses and mouths, we anew threw the earth half picked bodies or parts of bodies of the friends, comrades and relatives. In vain even the strongest, accustomed to all members of the funeral of team suddenly rushed on automatic fire of escorts, went mad, died of heart failure. How many times one dreamt me especially remembered, I do not know why, a woman’s hand with two remained fingers, chewed a children’s skull, how many times I shouted at night from dreadful dreams and, having woken up in cold sweat, saw that the validity is not better than a nightmare. It was not once or twice close to that just about there will go a roof, but I kept, kept with all my strength. I so wanted to be buried like a human…

Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict – the main danger to the world and safety in region

One of these days at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Baku hosted an international conference on “Security and Stability in the Caspian Sea Region from the Point of New Geopolitical Reality”, organized by the Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan (ACSDA) together with the French organisation “Eurasia: New horizons”.
Opening with an opening address of the conference on which took part known social-political figures, deputies of Milli Majlis, representatives of the non-governmental organisations and political scientists of Azerbaijan, as well as members of several European countries and the head of the analytic centers, vice-president of ACSDA Veli Alibekov said that at present the socio-political situation in the Caspian region is far unstable. In this region proceed a number of conflicts that is a security threat for all regions.
The chairman of conference, the head of the organisation “Eurasia: New horizons”, the deputy of France National Assembly, Thierry Mariani told that presence of a large quantity of oil and gas deposits in the Caspian region draws attention of all world to this region: “And therefore the near-Caspian region is sensitive to threats”. Having continued, the French deputy has noted: “Conflicts always are a source of the big dangers. Azerbaijan can play a role of the guarantor of peace in the Caucasus. We recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. No country can violently occupy one-fifth part of territory of other country”.
Mike Hancock, member of Monitoring Committee of the PACE from Great Britain, the chairperson at the first session of conference with a theme “Today’s global security situation around the Caspian Sea”, ascertained that for the decision of conflicts and prevention of their renewal the correct political policy should be selected: “Energy resources of the region should become the weapon, but not for war, but for peace, and to lead the countries of region to peace… It is necessary to explain to Armenians that they are doomed to a life in a good-neighbourhood with Azerbaijanis. It is important to solve a problem of the occupied 20 percent territories and 1 million refugees and internally displaced persons of Azerbaijan that in region has been provided security”.
At the named session also the keynote speakers – founder of the United Kingdom Defense Forum Robin Ashby and the chairman of the Committee on External Relations of PACE Tadeusz Ivinski have acted with reports. R.Ashby told that there is a big danger of terror in region, and Azerbaijan is the country, which has faced with it. He has underlined that in the Caspian region danger of terrorism has increased in connection with new oil and gas pipelines in here.
At the second session of conference with a theme “Caucasian conflicts and their impact on global security” have acted the keynote speakers of session – the head of the Department of the Political Analysis and Information Provision of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Elnur Aslanov and the expert on Caucasian conflicts (United Kingdom) Tamara Dragadze. Having noted the importance of Azerbaijan as developed geo-strategic partner with wide military and energy resources, E.Aslanov told that the problem should be solved only within the limits of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan: “Today military and civil threats limit possibilities of influence of the state, and cause realisation of corresponding measures at global level. Therefore, security should be provided by joint efforts of the states and the international organisations. From this point of view, the Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict is the main danger to the regional peace and stability. At the beginning of 90th years of the last century Armenia occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories, and at present, these places are under occupation. As a result of it 1 million Azerbaijanis have turned to refugees and internally displaced persons. At the beginning of the XXI century, it of course, does not hold in any frameworks both with legal, and with political points of view. The principle of territorial integrity is a fundamental principle of international law and infringement of its military way – a crime against peace. Use of force by one country against territorial integrity of other country – aggression, and it in turn, is estimated as a crime against peace and put a question of the international responsibility of the country-aggressor”. Continuing his speech, E.Aslanov said that delaying the process of settlement of the conflict is connected with non-constructive of Armenia: “The principle of self-determination of the nations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and in conflicts of this type cannot be considered as a notion of political independence. In the process of the decision of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict it is possible to give the status of autonomy consisting of Azerbaijan. And for this purpose it is necessary to return 7 districts, and only after that it is possible to discuss the issue of autonomy. Armenians should understand that time works against them. “Peace in exchange for the return of territory”- the only way allowing Armenia to get out of blockade and to achieve regional integration”.
At conference held two more sessions on themes: “Energy resources and the economic crisis: their influence on security” (chairperson Pedro Agramunt (Spain), the keynote speakers professor Tanguy Struye de Swielande (Belgium) and Antonio Peral (Spain)), and “Looking forward to stronger partnerships with NATO and European Union” (chairperson Stef Goris (Belgium), the keynote speakers general Patrick Nopens (Belgium) and professor Hannes Adomeit (Germany)).
Participants of conference have unambiguously noted the importance of restoration of stability in region and urged the world community to put pressure upon Armenia for demonstration of its constructive position.

Clown
It seems, this role is managed to Zhirinovsky much better, than the vice-speaker of the State Duma

Jester, who apparently decided to continue the Old Russian tradition, when the tsar-father and all his retinue was entertained with the buffoon and now is necessary to amuse all State Duma.
The matter as, probably, readers have already guessed, concerns about Vladimir Zhirinovsky’s odious figure whose humor could still somehow endure, whether he is not the vice-speaker of the Russian State Duma, and the character of any entertainment event like “Pun”.
It is interesting that as, probably, it seems to Zhirinovsky, he splashes out wit on that party “tsar’s court”. For certain many remember, how he already sent once the Tatar electoral committee to a mental hospital, and the whole country named almost a madhouse. Suffering any genetic hostility to all Ukrainian language, Zhirinovsky once even has managed to declare that “Ukraine’s never been in the history of Europe”.
Quite often arrows with poisonous tips reach also Azerbaijan. I remember, once Vladimir Volfovich has thrown a phrase that “the president of Azerbaijan has seven million sheep”.
Is it really not insulting the whole nation?! However, “the hero of our time” has not calmed down on it and gone further. As they say, the deeper into the wood you go, the more timber seems. In his published book with the curious name “Last throw in the South”, which like as covered events of the end of 80th years of last century, he for some reason asserts that Azerbaijanis killed and cut Christians (!). Whence such thought has come to mind to Zhirinovsky, till now remains a riddle. Truth, a bit later, probably, in fear to appear in awkward position before “sovereign” in view of just about becoming ripe international scandal, Zhirinovsky should be apologized. He even has written the letter to representatives of the Azerbaijan diaspora in Russia of which assured that yours faithfully concerns Azerbaijan, to its history and culture, and that “I am in no way wanted to touch the honour and advantage of representatives of any nations whatsoever or nationalities”. It seems that about Zhirinovsky began to forget, so he tried to remind again himself, and, as always, to remind in peculiar to his role. At this time the vice-speaker has decided to strike on the sore point of Azerbaijan – on Nagorno-Karabakh. His statement sounded one of these days (excerpt from the interview given to the “News-Armenia” agency) has revolted the public of Azerbaijan to a limit. Patience exhausted even the MFA of Azerbaijan, which up to now preferred especially not to react to Zhirinovsky’s attacks.
Let’s remind that, answering questions of the aforementioned agency concerning settlement of the Karabakh conflict, the vice-speaker of the Russian State Duma has made bold to declare that “Karabakh is a historical earth of Armenians” and that “if we help them to return it to Azerbaijan this again will lead to confrontation between Armenia and Azerbaijan”.
“I would not comment the next trick of such odious figure as mister Zhirinovsky as statements concerning a situation round the Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are not Vladimir Volfovicha’s first opus concerning a mentioned question”, – have declared in the MFA of Azerbaijan.
“However taking into account the fact that taken out on pages of news agency the opinion has been sounded not by the ordinary deputy of the State Duma, and the vice-speaker – the person, according to a post, participating practically in all political consultations at various levels in Russia and, thus, having possibility to influence decision-making process on those or other questions of the state importance to disregard so provocative and contradicting spirit of relations between our countries, the statement is not obviously possible”, – noted Elkhan Polukhov, the Press Secretary of the MFA (Day. Az). According to Polukhov, the statements concerning the Karabakh belongings to Armenia mister Zhirinovsky shows direct support of ethno-separatism. And this, proceeding from an accessory to such scale of a political figure as the vice-speaker, contradicts level of relations between the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan, and also the spirit and Treaty of Friendship letter, cooperation and mutual safety between the Russian Federation and the Azerbaijan Republic from July, 3, 1997 and the subsequent joint declarations at the top-level. “It would be desirable to remind that according to the specified documents of the party were obliged to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each other and to counteract display of the separatism directed against them”, – has underlined E.Polukhov.
At the same time, the representative of the MFA has added that in November of last year presidents of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan and Armenia had been signed the Meiendorf declaration reflecting adherence of the parties to the decision of the conflict “on the basis of principles and norms of international law and the decisions accepted in these frameworks and documents”. “So the position of vice-speaker of the State Duma, in any way does not correspond to the given declaration”, – summarized Polukhov.
In turn Zhirinovsky’s Azerbaijan colleague, vice-speaker Milli Majlis Bahar Muradova named a similar trick than other, as the next adventure. In the Russia, apparently, have already reconciled to Zhirinovsky’s tricks.
“Zhirinovsky is the present clown who has had time to dishonour Russia already everywhere. I am very sorry that statements of similar clowns can harm to relations between Russia and Azerbaijan”, – 1news.az was declared by one of leaders of the Russian opposition, the former vice-premier of the government of the RF Boris Nemtsov. “I would ask the friendly Azerbaijan people not to pay attention to similar mistakes of such frivolous people because it not opinion of all Russian people, and the opinion of one high-handed pseudo-Russia policy, which, unfortunately, has managed to get by means of the patrons to an armchair of the vice-speaker of the State Duma”, – summarized Nemtsov.

Armenian hypocrisy on-sarkisyanovski

Negotiating process on settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict with the mediation of the Minsk Group (MG) of OSCE started 17 years ago, unsuccessfully proceeds and today. The futility reasons, including and the two-standard approach to MG issue, here are a few. But the principal cause is non-constructive position of Armenia’s management – the country-aggressor. It was observed and at the first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, and at the second – Robert Kocharyan
