World Bank continues assistance to Azerbaijani internally displaced persons
$15 million financing and project agreement was signed between the International Development Association (World Bank) and the Azerbaijani Republic for the project “Additional financing for the assistance to IDPs’ economic development” at the State Committee on Work with Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons on May 15, AzerTag reports.
At the signing ceremony where the representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Economic Development and the Ministry of Finance, the World Bank, Social Development Fund of IDPs participated, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov, chairman of the State Committee on Work with Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons gave information about the project. He stated that the project value of the continuation of “Project on assistance to IDPs’ economic development” is $24.19 million, execution period 3 years. $8.69 million of this sum falls to Azerbaijani government’s share. Social problems existing at the compact settlements of IDPs will be settled, infrastructures will be improved due to the new project by the Social Development Fund of IDPs.
Gregory Yedyevchak, manager of World Bank in Azerbaijan underlined that, they are content of the co-operation with Azerbaijan and they believe to the development of this co-operation. Agreements were signed by the Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov, chairman of the State Committee on Work with Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons from Azerbaijani side and Gregory Yedyevchak, manager of World Bank in Azerbaijan.
