Turkish MP suggested marking Khojaly genocide as commemorative dayMP from the Nationalist Movement Party of Turkish opposition, Reshat Dogru suggested marking February 26 as the commemorative day of the Khojaly genocide in Turkey. “Azerbaijani nation waits for serious steps from Turkey as regards the Khojaly genocide. I have submitted the draft project to the Turkish Parliament to mark 26 February as the commemorative day of the Khojaly genocide in Turkey and it is very important to pass this law soon”, Dogru stated in the sitting of the Turkish Parliament aired live by the TRT3.

Reference of Trend News: On February 26, 1992, the Armenian armed units committed the genocide in Khojaly town. Over 4 months the town remained in the blockade, so considerable part of its population had to leave the town and only 3 thousand people remained there after the attack of the Armenian troops. 613 people were killed, 1000 civilians of different ages were wounded and became disabled. 106 women, 63 children and 70 old people were among the killed. 8 families were completely wiped out, 25 children lost both parents, 130 – one parent. 1275 people were taken captives; the fate of 150 people is still unknown.
