“Besides Russia and U.S., France also calls conflict parts to move forward in their future meetings and also in the meeting to be held in June in Saint Petersburg proposed by co-chairmen”, says in the statement of the French Ministry on Foreign Relations and European Issues on Thursday.
Being co-chairman with U.S and Russia in OSCE France stated that they were continuing their efforts to help Azerbaijan and Armenia in regulation of Nagorni Karbakh conflict.

The conflict between two countries of the South Caucuses occurred in 1988 when Armenia had territory claims against Azerbaijan. In December 1991 except Shusha and Khojali Karabakh was occupied. In 1992-1993 Shusha, Khojali and 7 joined regions to Karabakh were occupied. In 1994 two sides signed agreement on cease-fire and since that time with the co-chairmanship of Russia, France and the U.S. under the patronage of OSCE Minsk Group ineffective negotiations have been continued.
France confirmed that the last meeting of Azerbaijan and Armenian presidents was a good example for negotiation process and the relations between them had a constructive character.
“France calls both sides abide exactly the initial cease-fire and laws”, says in the statement.
