California does not give contributions to families of Armenians allegedly subjected to “genocide.”
The Court of Appeal in California delivered an important decision. The court found invalid a law that creates the possibility of the relatives of the Armenians claim reparation for life insurance. They argue that in 1915, their ancestors were subjected to “genocide” in the Ottoman lands during the World War I. In the ninth decision of the Court of Appeal stated that the law “interferes” in foreign policy by engaging in conflict with the Constitution. The Armenians, in turn, noted that they will protest against this decision. Their lawyer Brian Kabatedzhk reported that this is wrong decision: “The Court of Appeal said 1 million Armenians living in California, the illegality of the Government used the word” genocide. “Despite the fact that the United States officially recognized the events of 1915” Armenian genocide “and praised those events” tragedy “in California, where most of the Armenians and the Armenian lobby is strong, too, recognized the genocide.
