A “roundtable” meeting on the situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan was held in the United Nations Headquarters in New-York.
The event was organized by Azerbaijan`s permanent mission to the UN and brought together representatives from the Organization`s member states, Secretariat and specialized agencies.
Opening the meeting, Azerbaijan`s permanent representative to UN Agshin Mehtiyev told of the history and legal aspects of the conflict.
Speakers at the event stressed the necessity of settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of respect for Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity. They praised the Azerbaijani mission`s efforts to organize the meeting.
The event participants were also handed over a collection of UN documents on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict prepared by Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
