In 2009, Azerbaijan recorded 16 explosion case of mines and ammunition, which killed 4 people and injured 18 people, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Actions (ANAMA) reported.
Some 3, 582,751 sq. m. of area was cleared from mines and unexploded ammunition in December, 2009.
ANAMA revealed and detonated 45,524 unexploded ammunition and mines in this territory.
Some 425 specialists, 115 assistant staff, 6 mechanized mine clearing cars and 30 mine detector dogs took part in it.
So far, 121, 903, 509 sq. m. of area was demined and 576, 311 unexploded ammunitions were detonated.
The ANAMA carries out demining in Tartar, Agdam, Fuzuli, Agstafa, Goygul and Tovuz regions of Azerbaijan and in Garadagh region of Baku.
