Our current and future task is to bring to public attention the truth about Azerbaijan. “When words freeze…” documentary film could expose the Armenian vandalism, tell the truth about Azerbaijan, the truth about the Armenian barbarism to everyone who did not know about it, Azerbaijani MP Havva Mammadova said addressing the presentation of the film “When words freeze…” (“Sözün bitdiyi zaman”), which Trend News Agency produced as part of project of the State Support for Media Development Fund under the Azerbaijani President.
“You can make a major contribution to the coverage of our problems in the future,” Mammadova said. “Sometimes we forget about the occupation and burning our lands by Armenians. Armenians rename and make Armenian the names of our villages. Speaking of all these tragedies we need to name people, places and items in accordance with their real names, to prevent future problems of armenization.”
According to Mammadova, the works dealing about Nagorno-Karabakh should be presented to international public in a way understandable to everyone.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group – Russia, France, and the U.S. – are currently holding the peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. General Assembly’s resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region and the occupied territories.
