“When words freeze…” documentary film about Armenian vandalism against Azerbaijanis and Nagorno-Karabakh conflict reflects sufficient number of facts, Azerbaijani Press Council Chairman Aflatun Amashov said addressing the presentation of the film “When words freeze…” (“Sözün bitdiyi zaman”), which Trend News Agency produced as part of project of the State Support for Media Development Fund under the Azerbaijani President.
Moreover, there are many other facts on the Nagorno-Karabakh problem that should be widely reflected in a separate movie, he added.
According to Amashov, every citizen should increase his efforts to bring information about the Nagorno-Karabakh problem to the attention of world public.
“We should widely publicize every fact, whether about the destruction of the spring, destruction of the mosque, severed finger of a child, murder of mother and other similar tragedies. We must take certain steps in this direction. Our work is just and we must inform the world about it,” he said.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group – Russia, France, and the U.S. – are currently holding the peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. General Assembly’s resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region and the occupied territories.
