Destination of US Congress allocations for separatist Nagorno Karabakh announced

Azerbaijan National NGO Forum received a response to its letter of protest sent to the US Congress concerning the financial assistance to the so-called Nagorno Karabakh regime, chairman of the National NGO Forum Rauf Zeyni told APA.

According to him, US charge d’affaires in Azerbaijan Donald Lu said in his answering letter that the US government didn’t recognize so-called “Nagorno Karabakh Republic”. “The United States pursued this policy for many years and it has not been changed. The assistance allocated for Nagorno Karabakh has only humanitarian character”.

The letter noted that these allocations were managed by not the so-called NKR administration, but by the international NGOs. “These resources were spent to the mine-cleaning operations, restoration of houses and schools, as well as different humanitarian projects, including health in previous years. This year it will be spent to the mine-cleaning and water projects. Of course, the United States is allocating financial assistance to the internally displaced persons of Azerbaijan, who were forced to leave their homes as a result of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. These resources are also managed by the international NGOs and spent to the mine-cleaning, healthcare, restoration of schools and houses”.
