Establishment of friendship group with Nagorno Karabakh at Lithuanian Seimas causes concern in Turkey

The establishment of the friendship group with Nagorno Karabakh at the Lithuanian Seimas has caused concern in Ankara on the eve of Turkish President Abdullah Gul’s visit to this country. APA reports quoting Hurriyet that Turkey has expressed its concern to Lithuania through diplomatic channels. The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has sent a letter of response to Turkey: “The Foreign Relations Committee of the Lithuanian Seimas said that the Lithuanian government doesn’t recognize Nagorno Karabakh as an independent state, nor “The friendship group with Nagorno Karabakh and the government’s policy is in this respect.”

Hurriyet reports that Azerbaijan asked Gul not to visit the Lithuanian Seimas nor meet with parliamentarians.

Gul will be on a visit to the Baltic countries on April 1-4.
