First vice-speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament: “The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have admitted that their visit to the region was not memorable”

“International organizations should urgently increase pressures on Armenia,” said first vice-speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov while commenting on the recent visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to the region. He noted that unfortunately, the co-chairs’ recent visit to the region was not memorable: “No progress has been achieved and they have also admitted this”.

Asgarov stressed that the negotiations on the Nagorno Karabakh problem must not be continued in this manner: “We have always said and are demanding insistently now that OSCE Minsk Group should increase pressures on Armenia. Of course, foremost, the protraction of this conflict is a threat to the activity of Minsk Group. There is such an opinion in the society that Minsk Group is only paying visits. They can not do anything. This is very regretful, because they have much to do. Along with the four resolutions of the UN, NATO and a number of international organizations have passed resolutions on the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Their implementation is very necessary and we also demand that international organizations should put pressure on Armenia.”

Asgarov said that there are still chances to solve the Nagorno Karabakh conflict peacefully: “But if we notice that Armenia is fully imitating and trying to avoid negotiations, of course Azerbaijan has sufficient opportunities to liberate the occupied territories, we have enough military power.”
