“I address the Armenian community in Nagorno Karabakh. Armenians, who had lived in Nagorno Karabakh until 1992, can continue living. It is their legal right, because they are Azerbaijani citizens. However they must acquire the Azerbaijani citizenship from the official and legal point of view,” head of Shusha region Executive Authority, chairman of “Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Karabakh” Public Union Bayram Safarov told journalists, APA reports.
He said that Armenians, who don’t want to co-exist with Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Karabakh or acquire the citizenship, can leave: “Because we will return to our territories. The Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Karabakh has one position. We must return to our native lands and our territories must be liberated from the occupation of Armenian armed forces. Of course, negotiations are being held to eliminate the fact of occupation peacefully and Azerbaijan wants to solve this problem through the international norms. If the fact of occupation is not eliminated, Azerbaijan’s economic and military capabilities do not create any restrictions to liberate our territories,” he said.
He said anyway, the Azerbaijani people must determine the fate of their territories themselves. We will liberate our territories through military way, if necessary.
“It is natural that Armenians are attempting to protract the process. With this they try cover up the crimes they committed during the military operations,” he said.
