During its OSCE Chairmanship Switzerland to support efforts for finding peaceful solution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict

The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland has commented on the media reports that Ankara has asked the country’s mediation in the normalization of Turkey-Armenia relations. The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs told APA that Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter met with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on October 10. At the meeting, Didier Burkhalter noted the importance of the protocols signed in Zurich in 2009 aimed at normalizing relations between Turkey and Armenia.

As for the role of the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship in resolving the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs said the strengthening of dialogue and confidence in the South Caucasus will be one of the priorities of Switzerland during the OSCE Chairmanship: “The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office will support the efforts for finding the peaceful solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.”

According to Today’s Zaman, Turkey had asked Switzerland to help the settlement of the conflict between Azerbaijani and Armenia in order to open the way for normalizing relations with Armenia. /APA/
