Azerbaijani FM: Regional stability can ‘t be achieved without addressing territorial conflicts in OSCE area

Azerbaijan hopes that in the near future, the OSCE’s efforts on the conflict settlement and arms control will be successful, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at the OSCE Ministerial Council held in Kiev on Dec. 5. “Regional stability can not be achieved without addressing the conflicts existing in the OSCE area and without a political dialogue. It is a utopia,” Mammadyarov said.

Azerbaijan believes that the basic principles, reflected in 2009, and other statements of the OSCE Minsk Group countries’ presidents, can be the basis for negotiations and the peace process, Mammadyarov said.

The political will is necessary for real steps on resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as other territorial disputes in the OSCE area, Azerbaijani foreign minister said. /Trend/
