Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker: “Not all of those going to fight in Syria can be called terrorists”

The issue on the Azerbaijanis going to fight in Syria has been raised at the meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament, APA reports.

 

MP Zahid Oruj said young Azerbaijanis going to Syria join terrorist groups there. He said they are trained in the spirit of terrorism and will be used against Azerbaijan by some forces.

 

“Taking into account that the number of the persons going to Syria is rising, Azerbaijani state should act. The parliament should make amendments to the relevant legislation and Prosecutor General’s Office should launch criminal case. Urgent administrative measures should be taken,” he said.

 

Speaker Ogtay Asadov also said it is a serious problem, but added that not all of those going to fight in Syria can be called terrorists. The issue on hired fighters is very dangerous and complicated, and it is hard to prevent it. But necessary measures will be taken. We will do whatever depends on us,” he said.
