Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry approves long-delayed draft laws

The Azerbaijani Parliament has received the approval of the Defense Ministry regarding the two draft laws, which discussion has been delayed due to the lack of the ministry’s opinion.

The Parliament told APA that these are draft laws “On the status of servicemen” and “On armed forces and other armed units”. The draft laws have already been included in the parliament’s spring session.

Except for the Defense Ministry, all security agencies approved the discussion of both documents. Positive opinion was among the reforms carried out after the changes at the administration of the ministry.

The draft law “On the status of servicemen” envisages the issues of strengthening the social protection of servicemen and providing them with housing. Among other benefits, the draft law also envisages giving civil servant status to servicemen.

The draft law “On armed forces and other armed units” envisages the clauses that will pave the way for the establishment of additional military units.
