Azerbaijan reorganizes accreditation system

Draft law “On accreditation” was included in the agenda of the Parliament’s spring session

 

Azerbaijan will reorganize the accreditation system that includes the issuance of certificates, reports and other documents by state bodies from this year.

 

Azerbaijani Parliament told APA that it was reflected in the newly-developed draft law “On accreditation” that was included in the agenda of the Parliament’s spring session.

 

The new draft law envisages formation of accreditation system in Azerbaijan and improvement of its operating rules, as well as recognition of certificates, test, calibration and inspection reports issued by conformity assessment accreditation bodies, ensuring the confidence of consumers and other interested parties on the results of conformity assessment, reducing technical barriers to trade through accreditation or adapting Azerbaijan’s accreditation system to the international and regional accreditation system to eliminate these barriers.

 

The draft law determines main principles and general requirements of Azerbaijan’s accreditation system, working principles of the national accreditation body responsible for the accreditation of management system of conformity assessment organizations (agencies or laboratories), accreditation procedures, principles and standards of international cooperation in the field of accreditation.

 

The draft law to be discussed in the first reading at one of the next meetings of the Azerbaijani Parliament was developed in collaboration with the EU experts.
