Azerbaijan to purchase passenger carriages for Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway from Switzerland

New passenger carriages plant is planned to be constructed in Ganja, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Gurban Nazirli told journalists.

 

According to him, Swiss Stadler company, Ministry of Transport and Azerbaijan Railways have already conducted negotiations: “Currently, technical documents and projects are underway with that company. Our plan is to complete this project this year”.

 

Nazirli said that Azerbaijan Railways also plans to purchase 30 passenger carriages this year: “AZN 30 mln has already been allocated for this purpose from the state budget. After signing this contract, Stadler will start producing 30 passenger carriages for Azerbaijan”.

 

He also said that this company will start producing such carriages in Ganja in the future: “I think, this will support all problems related to passengers to be resolved”.

 

Nazarli also noted that these carriages are planned to be used in Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
