Azerbaijan is suffering from flagrant violation of the international law, our historical lands were occupied. More than 1 million Azerbaijanis have been living as refugees and IDPs for many years, we were subjected to theKhojaly genocide, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made an opening speech at the 3rd Global Shared Societies Forum that started in Baku on April 28.
The forum has been organized by the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Diaspora and the Nizami Ganjavi International Center.
The head of state said that the UN documents and Helsinki Final Act are based on the principle of territorial integrity.
“According to the documents, right of peoples to self-determination should not result in the violation of territorial integrity. Aggressive separatism is being continued. If Nagorno-Karabakhconflict was solved, we wouldn’t have seen new conflicts today. Azerbaijan strongly supports the resolution of the conflict within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan basing on the UN resolutions and decisions of the Council of Europe, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Non-Aligned Movement,” noted the president.
