Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office, Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade on Monday received a delegation led by Richard Prasquier, the former president of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France (CRIF).
Haji Allahshukur Pashazade spoke to the guest about religious and denominational tolerance dominant in Azerbaijan, as well as Armenia’s occupying and aggressive policy against Azerbaijan. Prasquier said in turn the fact that the CMO chairman mentioned suggest the international community does not have a complete background on Azerbaijani realities.
“You have become a victim of information war. The meetings that we hold indicate devotees of different religions can coexist in Azerbaijan and they do. This is a great achievement. It is no secret that there are serious problems in this regard in every part of the world. France too is no exception. Such coexistence is amazing. I think Azerbaijan’s experience is all right to learn,” said Richard Prasquier.
The guest said that good relations between Azerbaijan and Israel are gratifying for French Jews and prove Azerbaijan to be a close country to Israel.
Then Richard Prasquier asked the attitude of Sheikhulislam toward Muslims joining ISIS terrorist organization and fatwas of terrorists. Pashazade noted with regret some of Azerbaijanis are joining the ISIS.
“But their numbers are few compared to other countries. We are working with their families and explaining them that terrorism has nothing to do with Islam. Unfortunately, some countries, including some Muslim countries are jealous of the development of Azerbaijan. On the other hand, as you know, 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories was occupied by a neighboring country, and it is not excluded that this country is involved in this matter. Committing murder, cutting off the heads under the guise of Islam is unacceptable. It is aimed at discrediting the religion of Islam in European society,” Pashazade noted.
