“Human Rights XXI Century – Azerbaijan” Foundation met the family members and children of missing persons during the Karabakh war on occasion of June 1 – International Day for Protection of Children

“Human Rights XXI Century – Azerbaijan” Foundation met the family members and children of missing persons during the Karabakh war on May 31 on occasion of June 1 – International Day for Protection of Children under the support of Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre within the project “Ensuring sustainability of the activity of psycological “Service Center” for the family members of missing persons during the war who live in Baku city and need legal aid” held by financial support of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the Auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (“The NGO Council”). Children and their families watched free show “Talking doll” organized for children at the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre after the meeting.

A head of project Aytakin Nuriyeva, lawyer of the project Ulviya Rahimova and social employee Nisa Rahimova participated at the meeting held on occasion of June 1 – International Day for Protection of Children.

It should be noted that a “Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre for Family Members of Missing Persons” was established at the Foundation in 2012 under the mutual cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Council.

About 300 group meetings were held for the families of missing persons who live in Narimanov, Sabail, Khatai, Sabunchu, Surakhani and Nasimi districts of Baku city during the 3-years activity period of the Center, about 500 family members were given psychosocial assistance and about 200 family members who were sick and unable to come to the meeting were visited at their houses directly by psychologists and lawyers, as well as colleagues, special social employees selected from the family members of missing persons.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center for Family Members of Missing Persons has been active already for 3 years became a psychological “Service Center” for the families of missing persons during the war who live in Baku city and need psychological aid in 2014 with the support of the Council.

So far constant psychological services (either legal services, if necessary) have been rendered for the families of missing persons during the war who live in Baku city with the support of the Council and on account of own resources.
