Turkish foreign minister, Ali Babajan confirmed the information about the secret meeting held between Turkish and Armenian diplomats on July 8. Ali Babajan stated at the joint press conference with foreign minister of Iran, Manuchohr Mottaki, who paid one-day visit to Ankara, that the meeting had been held on his instruction, APA’s Turkish bureau reports. “It was the meeting of high-ranking diplomats of Turkish and Armenian Foreign Ministries held on my instruction. Such meetings are held from time to time. The crucial goal is to keep open a way of dialogue between the two countries”. Ali Babajan reminded that the two countries adhere to different conceptions regarding the 1915 events. “We are for the solution of every problem in the region, as well as with Armenia, via a dialogue, and only after we see some appropriate steps taken by the opposite party, we’ll decide whether to continue the dialogue or not”. Kamal Chichek, head of the Armenian researches department of the Turkish Historical Organization also confirmed this fact commenting on the secret meeting of Turkish and Armenian diplomats to APA’s Turkish bureau. “We meet with Armenians within various initiatives in different European cities, such as Oslo, Salzburg and others. Although we suggested establishing a joint commission to investigate the historical events, we haven’t received any positive respond as yet. At the same time, we still cannot achieve get access to Dashnak archives in Boston. No results were achieved at those meetings either. Let our Azerbaijani brothers not to worry. Any step against our brothers is beyond discussion at the meetings held by our Foreign Ministry or us. There is no reason to be concerned. However, it is a usual Armenian feature to shrink into a corner when facing our fair demands”.
