Armenia violates ceasefire with Azerbaijan over 30 times per day

The ceasefire on the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line was broken 31 times last night, the Azerbaijani defense ministry said on June 7.

The armed forces of Armenia, located in the Berkaber village of Armenia`s Ijevan region opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in the Qizialhajili village of the Qazakh region, and from the positions located at the nameless heights of the Armenia’s Krasnoselski region fired at the Azerbaijani positions located at the nameless heights in the territory of the Gedabay region.

Armenian armed forces on the eve of last night, and from positions in the village Berkaber Ijevan region of Armenia, fire on positions of Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in the village Gyzylgadzhili Gazakh and from positions in the nameless heights in the region of Armenia Krasnoselski fired at Azerbaijani positions located on nameless heights in the Gadabay region.
At the same time, the Azerbaijani positions took fire from the positions located at the nameless heights of Goranboy region and near the villages of Goradiz, Qarakhanbayli, Ashagi Abdurrahmanli of the Fizuli region, Yusifjanli, Merzili of the Aghdam region, Qizil Oba, Goyarkh of the Terter region, Mehdili of Jabrail region.
The opposing side was silenced with return fire.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council’s four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
