No force will be able to attack neighboring counties using the territory of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov said at a joint press conference with Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghani in Tehran on April 15.
No danger comes from the territory of Azerbaijan to the neighboring countries, according to Hasanov, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported.
“We will not allow this to happen. This is the official policy of Azerbaijan and we have openly stated this in international and regional structures,” Hasanov said.
The minister stressed that military bases of other countries cannot be placed in the territory of Azerbaijan in accordance to the country’s constitution.
Hasanov said his visit to Iran is going on at a high level.
Azerbaijan and Iran have many things in common and the two countries have always had friendly and fraternal relations, Azerbaijan’s defense minister said.
“Meetings with Iranian defense minister, chief of staff of Iran’s Armed Forces and the country’s first vice-president were held and the issues related to cooperation in defense sphere were discussed during the visit. We also discussed the regional and international issues and our points of view coincide on these issues,” the minister said.
