“The European Union and US made a big mistake, when in the period of active rapprochement between Armenia and Turkey in 2009, they separated this process from the process of resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict,” former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza said at “EU-Azerbaijan: security and integration” conference jointly organized by the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SAM) and European Policy Centre. He said the process of resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and regulation of Armenia-Turkey relations are interrelated and it is wrong to separate them.
According to the diplomat, Yerevan should realize that the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict will lead to rapprochement between Armenia and Turkey.
“It should be realized that progress in one direction will cause progress in another direction,” he said.
