Says a British professor
«The massacre of Armenians was not genocide». According to the correspondent of Vesti.Az in London Professor John Lowering from Cardiff University writes about it in his open letter to the newspaper The Independent on May 9, 2009.
He opposed the use of the word «genocide» in relation to the events of 1915, as it can be misleading, veil a substantial difference between this and other cases of mass destruction. Armenian Diaspora wants to impress the world that the Turks carried out on them the same as the Nazis on the Jews 25 years ago».
Professor believes that they have been able to do so to influence public opinion in the United States and win the sympathy of Americans. In doing so, mainly used by the ideological propaganda was the word «Genocide».
Then he writes: «It is, however, the victims of the Ottoman Empire in the same light as the Jews under the Nazis, it would not be true. Jews, whether in Germany or Poland, have never been involved in political assassinations or terrorist acts against civilians. They never resisted authority, not to destroy the neighboring villages and does not welcome the invaders, which can not be said about the Armenians, whose leaders have seized on the new order, the European «invention» – the concept of national-ethnic identity – and make the military and political requirements. Professor is confident that even if the Turks did not use the strategy of Nazi “final solution”. Armenian case is fundamentally different from the Holocaust because it is not safe to connect to a single node of the events.
“Certainly,” – says Professor – “This does not justify the massacre of Armenians by the Turks, which, strictly speaking, and came to an end the Ottoman era. So is it does not encourage the nationalist myth that Turkish schools and hopelessly uncritical Turkish press is trying to pad ( There are even monuments dedicated to the Turkish genocide). But even this tragicomic situation does not entitle the Armenians claim that they had suffered genocide».
