Turkish parliament to discuss draft law on activity of country’s intelligence service

Turkish parliament will discuss amendments to the draft law on the activity of the country’s intelligence service (MIT), Turkish Anadolu agency reported on Feb.20.

The amendments are planned to be made on the following points: the cases with regard to employees of intelligence services will only be considered by the Supreme Court of Turkey; verdicts and decisions of the courts with regard to employees of intelligence services will not be subject to revision; family members of employees of Turkey’s intelligence service will be under the protection of the state under the fight against terrorism.

In addition, another amendment to the draft law envisages that the unsubstantiated complaints against the employees of the country’s intelligence will not be taken into consideration by the Prosecutor’s Office.
