Turkish parliament will not ratify protocols signed with Armenia if there is no progress in Karabakh problem

“The brothers can be at odds sometimes, but it cannot cause coldness between them and end brotherhood. Turkey-Azerbaijan brotherhood cannot be ended”, Chairman of the Turkish parliament’s Turkey-Azerbaijan Friendship Group Mustafa Kabakchi told APA in Baku.

Kabakchi is a member of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). He said it was impossible to force the parliament to ratify protocols signed with Armenia. “I am a member of the parliament. I don’t see probability of ratification of the protocols without progress in Karabakh problem. Turkey and its parliament came to common conclusion about that. Armenia should withdraw its forces al least from a part of the regions it has occupied”.

Kabakchi said they brought the Karabakh problem on the world’s agenda by signing of the protocols. “OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries attended the signing ceremony and now they must fulfill their duties. They must secure returning of the occupied Azerbaijani lands. The progress in this problem will calm Turkish community. I think the protocols will not be ratified by the parliament if there is no progress. I am sure”.
