“KARABAKH” THROUGH THE STANDPOINT OF FAITH
At the end of the 80th years of last century claims of Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh (NK) – the historical earth of Azerbaijan began. After acceptance by parliament of Armenia and regional council of the NK of illegal decisions on accession of area to Armenia, Armenians started to show the open enemy relation to inhabitants of Armenia and the NK of the Azerbaijani origin. The armed gangs killed innocent people, burned their houses, violently expelled from the native land of local Azerbaijanis concerning which applied awful tortures.
H.Nazarli, of course, could not stay away from these events imposed to his Homeland from Armenian. He voluntarily enlisted in a battalion of self-defense created in the Shykhov settlement and composed of volunteers. At the end of December 1991, when already Armenia waged an undeclared war against Azerbaijan, Hikmet as a part of named battalion went to the front in the direction of Aghdam. From the first day of his fighting ways, H.Nazarli distinguished military possession of skills, knowledge of tactics, intelligence, and also skill and courage. His main field of battle was the road Umudlu, Khojaly, for the Armenian armed bandit group, set up ambushes along the way, fired at passenger buses and other vehicles, trying to take people hostage.
Once, when Hikmet withdrew inhabitants of the Umudlu village in a safe place, he was seriously ill. Having been some time in treatment, he returned to his fighting companions.
At the end of February 1992 Armenian armed forces together with the 362th motorized rifle regiment of the Russian carried out the real massacre, having completely destroyed the town of Khojaly. These days H.Nazarli showed the real heroism. Machine, led them, he tried to create an obstacle to the coming enemy, carrying women and children to safe places. At the last moment when to operate in Khojaly has become impossible, Hikmet, together with several fighting companions was removed in the wood of nearby occupied city. And then of him there is no evidence, that is, he was missing…
He was family, had one child.
On September 9, 1992, Hikmet Baba oglu Nazarli was posthumously conferred the honorary title of the National Hero of Azerbaijan by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan.
