Armenian soldier passed voluntarily to Azerbaijani side
Representatives of the International Red Cross Committee met with Armenian soldier, Paruyr Stepanian who had passed voluntarily to Azerbaijani side. Talks were held behind closed doors. Although Stepanian wanted to make a statement and mass media to participate at the meeting, leader of the Red Cross Baku office, Martin Amasher, saying that it is contrary to the international conventions, which Azerbaijan has joined, refused to speak with Stepanian with the participation of mass media. After the meeting, Armenian soldier stated to ANS TV that he had passed to the Azerbaijani side as a protest against tortures in Armenian army and lawlessness in the country where he lives and asked the Red Cross Organization to help him to leave for the third country. Representatives of the organization haven’t responded his request yet. The Red Cross Committee representatives have brought Stepanian a letter from his family.
