«The presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan are moving step by step in this matter, and although the turning point has not yet come, but they created the foundation for this», – he said in an interview with radio station «Echo Moskvy».
Talking about the position of the United States on the basic problems of resolving the conflict in Karabakh, Bryza said that importance of the final solution will be possible via balance: «This is a balance among principles – self-determination, territorial integrity and the exclusion effect. And it’s possible to build such a balance, but it is a very difficult task. And because of that those negotiations are continuing for so long».
He noted that the important subject of negotiations is the issue of Karabakh and the regions of Azerbaijan controlled by Armenian side. «And I believe that finally these territories should be freed and Azerbaijani refugees to be returned to their territories. I can not predict what will happen to Karabakh. We know that there is a new situation. The negotiations are going around the determination of this situation”.
In this mean the diplomat estimated the explanation of the President Ilham Aliyev in Moscow about the corridor between Armenia and Karabakh as a moving step.
Azerbaijani Defense Ministry: Armenian Armed Forces again violated ceasefire
Armenian Armed Forces violated ceasefire again. On May 12, the enemy units fired on the opposite positions of Azerbaijani Armed Forces from their posts near Seysulan village of Terter region between 04.30 and 04.45 and from their posts near Tagibeyli village of Aghdam region from 05.10 till 05.20. The enemy was silenced by response fire, no casualties were reported.
