“The regional developments create good opportunities for the solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict”, said US Senator Richard Lugar, APA reports quoting Armtoday agency.
The Senator said each of the South Caucasian countries was important for the United States and Washington wanted peace and stability in the region.
Valuing the geopolitical position and energy resources of Azerbaijan, Lugar called the country an important partner to the United States. “Washington is interested in the energy security in the region”. Lugar reminded about the Russian gas sanctions against the US NATO allies and highly appreciated the international agreement on Nabucco gas project signed in Ankara last summer. “The agreement is a great step forward because a year ago it was like a dream”.
