OIC Youth Forum Secretary General Elshad Iskandarov believes that the Justice for Khojaly campaign’s main political aim is to recognize the Khojaly tragedy as a crime against humanity on an international level.
A special petition has been prepared on the Web site of the campaign for this purpose on the eve of the Khojaly tragedy’s anniversary. Anyone interested can send a letter of support to state agency and international organization heads, Iskandarov said at a press conference at the Trend International News Agency Press Center.
He added that 613 balloons will be released into the air with the names of Khojaly victims in front of the UK parliament Feb. 25. Actions will be held in Amsterdam, Brussels, Vienna, Vilnius, Lithuania, Mexico City, Paris, Moscow, and Los Angeles.
Tents will also be placed on the central London square as a symbol of Azerbaijani refugees. A ship will furrow the waters of the Thames in the memory of the victims day. An event will also take place on a university campus in Mexico City.
The campaign was announced upon the initiative of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation for Intercultural Dialogue (ICYF-DC). General Coordinator Leyla Aliyeva opened the campaign May 8, 2008.
