“Azerbaijan is a very important energy partner in the region and the world”, said Edward Chow, analyst of energy analyst at Center for Strategic and International Studies at a George Washington University conference on the Caspian energy and Geopolitics, APA’s Washington DC correspondent reports.
According to him, Azerbaijan has won the trust of the foreign investors in the recent years, and this is one of the main factors for the development of not only this particular country, but the whole region. He says the most important thing is to keep this trust, and this is a difficult task for any country. Chow believes Azerbaijan is doing well in those terms.
Nonetheless the analyst thinks that the only negative factor for the regional energy cooperation and development is the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He said the conflict must be solved right away, because it will be a positive development not only for Azerbaijan, but for the whole region’s stability.
Speaking about US interests in the Caspian region the analyst pointed out that Azerbaijan has a huge role in this policy. The United States are interested that the energy recourses of the Caspian region get to the West through Azerbaijan, which is a most reliable partner. He also said US has an investor interest in Azerbaijan.
