Ilham Aliyev: “Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is the beginning of a new stage in the development of transport”

Economics. Azerbaijan develops its transport services, establishes modern infrastructure, improves freight management mechanism and extends integration to the international transport system, said the Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov at the international conference titled “The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway – new opportunities for development of the historical Great Silk Road” while delivering President Ilham Aliye’s message to the participants.

 

According to the message, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will be launched soon: “This railway, which is efficient, sustainable, and meets security and ecological norms, means the beginning of a new stage in the development of transport. This line will expand multimodal opportunities, increase passenger and cargo transportations”.

 

The message also says that the ferry terminal of the Baku International Sea Port has been launched recently: “Stage-by-stage, the capacity of the port will make 25 mln tonnes of cargo and 1 mln containers per year”.
