Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers has made amendments and additions to the “Rules for the Extension of Temporary Visa-Free Stay of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons”.
According to the decision, a foreigner or a stateless person who whose temporary stay in the country was extended by the State Migration Service, may leave the country through the border checkpoints on state borders, by presenting a personal passport (another document for crossing the border) and the extension of its temporary stay in the country.
According to another amendment, if the stay (with extended period included) of a stateless person is more than 30 days, his/her residence will be registered by the State Migration Service.
One more amoendment is applicable to the validity of documents in the country.
Under the old rules, the temporary stay of foreigners in Azerbaijan was not extended if their passport had less than 6 months to expire. Under the changes, this period was reduced to 3 months.
The amendments also reflect the issues of extension of temporary stay of staff members of diplomatic missions and consulates, as well as international organizations, members of the administrative- technical staff and their families.
