Elman Abdullayev: “Serzh Sargsyan would rather clarify the fact that Armenia is on the verge of disaster than express anti-Azerbaijan and racist views”
“Serzh Sargsyan, who is chanting populist and false slogans and trying to distract public opinion from domestic problems, would rather clarify the fact that Armenia is on the verge of disaster and more than 40 percent of its population live in extreme poverty than express anti-Azerbaijan and racist views,” said spokesman for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev while commenting on the speech made by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, APA reports.
Abdullayev said the fact that the Armenian authorities, who have committed the gravest crimes and conducted ethnic cleansing against the Azerbaijani people and directly participated in preparation and perpetration of Khojaly genocide, are talking about peace, spiritual and moral values is the most extreme example of hypocrisy: “The Armenian authorities, who have conducted a bloody ethnic cleansing against all nations that lived in the territory of Armenia, especially Azerbaijanis and the Azerbaijani people in the occupied territories, have no moral right to blame Azerbaijan. Wasn’t it Serzh Sargsyan and his predecessor Robert Kocharian who spoke about “ethnic incompatibility” of the Azerbaijani and Armenian people? Wasn’t it Sargsyan, who addressing the country’s youth makes them have an eye on the territories of the neighbouring states in order to create imaginary “Great Armenia” and incite them to more bloody wars? As a result of the racist and hatred policy with regard to other nations, Armenia has become a monoethnic state. Unlike Armenia, Azerbaijani people have been able to preserve multiculturalism and tolerance formed throughout the centuries, Azerbaijan is recognized as an example of tolerance in the world. Serzh Sargsyan should not forget that the Azerbaijani state will never allow a second Armenian state in its territory, annexation of its territories, sooner or later Azerbaijan’s occupied territories will be liberated and Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of its borders will be ensured.”
Addressing Yerkrapah Volunteer Union congress on February 15, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan blamed Azerbaijan for the tension on the line of contact. He said Azerbaijan has no power to start a large-scaled war.
