Azerbaijani MES and General Prosecutor ‘s Office warn people against swindlers defrauding entrepreneurs

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) and the General Prosecutor’s Office have issued a joint statement on those presenting themselves as employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and defrauding entrepreneurs under the guise of inspections.

 

MES press service told APA that the decree on “Prevention of the interventions hindering the development of the entrepreneurship” by the President of the Azerbaijan Republic dated September 28, 2002, as well as the law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On audit regulation in the business sphere and protection of entrepreneurs’ interests” dated July 2, 2013 and other relevant legal documents envisage that factors, inappropriate interventions and abuse of power by government officials hindering entrepreneurship, development of market relations are unacceptable.

 

“Unfortunately, we are receiving information that some swindlers presenting themselves as employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are putting pressures on some entrepreneurs, impeding their normal business process through illegal interventions under the guise of inspections, even demanding money from them under threat of suspending the operation of their enterprise. Appropriate measures are taken to timely detect such cases and bring them to justice in accordance with the legislation,” says the statement.

 

Considering all we mentioned, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Prosecutor General’s Office ask all individuals and legal entities to demand from the inspectors to present a service card and a relevant document authorizing the inspection, and call the following telephone numbers to clarify if any suspicion arises about the persons being employees of the ministry or about the validity of the inspection:
