A mass grave created as a result of genocide committed by Armenians in Guba region of Azerbaijan faces with a landslide threat.
Ground water is deserting ground creating a landslide threat. Researcher of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Gahraman Aghayev told APA that the mass grave is protected by primitive methods. “The nearby river is also threatening the mass grave. A ravine in the bank of Gudyalchay River is sliding continuously shortening distance between the grave and river. The results of researching work conducted in the past three years showed that Gudyalchay River approaches the mass grave 5-6 meters every year. The distance between the mass grave and the river is about 30-40 meters now”.
Aghayev said if relevant measures were not taken for prevention of ground waters and the river, the Guba mass grave would be disappeared completely.
